Split coils in 570

I bought a 570 on ebay a couple of months ago,
have given it a chance as it was well set up
but now its time to set it the way I like it.

Plan is to change the strings from 9 to 11,
put a Duncan p-rails in the bridge,
neck I am not sure, either put in a D-activator from my iceman or an Indie DV8 that I have in 3 other guitars and I like a lot.
Take out the middle single coil as it gets in the way.
Use this diagram for wiring but with a 1K pot.

will this diagram work with the 5 way in a 570 ?

Maybe I would be better off replacing the tone with a DPDT switch for the P-rails ?

Yes that diagram will work. Maybe using a triple shot humbucker ring and a 3 way pickup selector might be a better way to go though?

Re: Split coils in 570

Thats a good idea, the diagram I was thinking of didnt give all the options for the p-rails.

still want to take out the middle pickup as I dont use it and it gets in the way.

I also suspect the mag field will cause a small loss of sustain, though thats probably not significant.

Just lower the single all the way into the guitar so you don't have an ugly hole, and disconnect the wiring if you don't want to use it.

Re: Split coils in 570

all done,
Rio Grande Bstard RWRP P90 in neck,
but connected to middle on switch.
Iron Gear steel twin in middle,
Duncan P-Rails in bridge with 3way coil split switch.

Very happy with it, lots of good tones,
570 set up well with 11-48 and good action.

I even like the Iron Gear ,
I just put it in as a cheap way to fill the hole but it sounds good too.
