Steveīs Special

A simple question:

just wondering, does that pickup sound as full as a Tone Zone?
Looking at itīs tone chart, Iīm thinking itīs too metal (scooped
mids; lots of trebs and bass).

Never had the chance to try one.

Thanks for any imput.

I have a DiMarzio in a Yamaha Pacifica that's custom, but DiMarzio says it's closest to a SS. I think it comes across as "clean", not "scooped". But I usually go through a DG stomp and use it clean & split for strat sounds.

It doesn't seem quite that powerful; I suspect it's a little under the 390mv of the official version.

Not that you think this, but I feel it worth mentioning for anyone else reading...

Use HOT buckers to split when combining for strat sounds. People sometimes say you should use a PAF or vintage model. But vintage buckers are different from vintage singles, and are too weak. A strat single is a strong pup! if you wired 2 together side by side, you'd have a LOUD ~16k ohm pup. I like a JB, the Steve's special, even an IBZUSA F1 or F2. But not a PAF.
