Strat -> Rock Moster :) help!


Q: what if i wire single coils in series (middle and bridge) ? will i get a hum sound? will i get loud and fat sound? how do you think will it sound good with hi-gain amp?

It's similar. Brian May did that a lot, and I suspect Ty Tabor did that with his pickups for the old King's X records. It's smoother than a bridge humbucker, but still has good attack. Also it still retains some of the quackiness that you get from the in between positions on the strat.

Loud & fat! Neck & mid in series is even fatter. No hum if you have good pickups and shielding. I modify most of my Strats, got between 10 - 29 sounds including stock tones. I have reviewed some of these pickup combinations on Harmony Central, under pickups, maker: Deaf-Eddie. All the best. Strat Man Dwight
