Exclamation TERMINATOR-EVO System

Hi doe's anyone came across on this website:http://www.makeweirdmusic.com/gear/evo

Mr. Vai send his main guitar EVO, his FLO and his guitar with dark matter pick-up to them for the installation of madhatterguitar TERMINATOR-EVO solderless wiring system. They claim to add more to your guitar tone. Any experience or opinion on this?

Old thread with zero responses, maybe it just flew under the radar. Sure interested in hearing what experience anyone else has with this system.

Sounds great for ease of swapping/replacing pickups, etc... but as a 30+ year electronics tech I have yet to discover an electrical connector that passes signal without some loss. You just can't beat a good solder joint. That being said, a poor quality solder joint isn't very good either.

"Adds more tone" is the most meaningless bit of marketing bs. Eagle nailed it, it's cool for ease of swapping but no one is going to hear a guitar with that system and one without it and hear a difference

If anyone does try one of these kits it would be nice to hear their thoughts before I take the plunge and import one.

I'd probably first go with one in my Premium Jem as I'd image that at the very least the components (switches & pots) are an improvement over Indo OEM.

The push/pull pot for the extra tones over standard wiring is a nice addition too.

i didn't know this system was out there. For the past couple of years i had been toying around with the idea of making a modular system. The emg quick connect stuff is garbage and i felt it could be done better and allow for different pickup brands to be used. I even built a couple of prototypes with different connector styles and I/O block styles. I could never get the costs down enough to a point i felt it was worth doing the way i wanted it done. $85 isn't too bad but their kit is a little more complicated then what i was trying to do.

I'd be interested to know what an owner thinks about the system. I have installed the fender TBX pot on a few of my guitars. It is a sweet tone modification and uses a stacked 1 meg/ 250k pot . 1-5 is 250k . it has a center de-tent that takes the pot out of the signal flow, and then 5-10 is a 1 meg. I could see something like a 500k / 1 meg pot working well to "boost" the volume. It would probably make the evos sound extra shrill though.
