Three neck PU choices to match X2N in the bridge

I have these choices for a neck humbucker to match that X2N beast in the bridge of my RG770DX:

PAF Pro (only one I've tried so far, I really like it)
Breed bridge
Air Classic

With:
IBZ/USA C2 and FS-1 for singles

When in series, I'm looking for glassy and full cleans (say Steve Morse or Satch) and smooth, non-percussive distorted tones (think very smooth speed picking and sweeps, Morse-Vai-Petrucci sort of thing)

When split, I'd love just a classic Strat position 4 tone. I think I may go for the C2, as it's brighter than the FS-1 (and no hum )

Has anyone tried any of these combos? Suggestions? I've just emailed DiMarzio, but I wonder if anyone has tried these combos.

Cheers!

Hmm, the volume drop when switching from X2N to like an air classic would be pretty big I believe. Personally I found another X2N was about the best match lol. I would think an Air Zone might be ok since that's fairly hot, or hell, even a Steve's Special might be ok. Good luck

Re: Three neck PU choices to match X2N in the bridge

Thanks, X2N.

Yes, I emailed DiMarzio and they suggested the PAF Pro and the FS-1. The Air Classic can't match the X2N and the Breed bridge would be too muddy. Just what I suspected. Of course I could take out the X2N, but I just LURVE that growl...

Now, I have 2 DiMarzios with no guitar... maybe I'll get a beater with mahogany body/rosewood fretboard for mellower sounds and the RG770 will be my metal/shred machine!

Cheers

See if you can find a used Steve Morse model DiMarzio.

Yep, a SM would be cool! The problem is, I have all pups in my hands, so it'd be silly to buy yet anothyer one. Anybody wants to trade?
