very twangy paf pros in jem777dy

Ive just got a gorgous jem777 dy with standard paf pros to go with my 555 however the sound is very twangy loads of top loads of bottom not much inbetween an bit strat like! not evena s good as the 555 with evos
it dont sound tooo bad if you roll the tomne down to about 6 but im still baffled could it be the capiciter in the tone control?
or would playin around wuth the pickup height make a difference but wow its so piercing!
im also gettin slight high pitch feed back on the bridge pickup at full volume Im considering swiching the pickups around are they identical or is the neck one slightly small spacing?
any one else had this problem?

I would guess that there's definitely some problem with the pickups...the bridge one sounds like its become microphonic, which is what happens after some years, which would be reasonable as your DY is probably 12+ years old.

If the sound is thin, a wire may have becom loose. The Pafs aren't quite as hot as the Evos, but they should be comparable - def. shouldn't sound Strat-like.

Get in there and get your hands dirty! pop the pickguard off and take a look.

PS: A microphonic pickup needs to be replaced or 'repotted'. I recommend replacing it with an Evolution
