What pickups for sc420?

I just picked up a used SC420 a couple weeks ago and it is quickly becoming on of my favorite guitars because of it's awesome playability, good looks and light weight.
The problem is the pickups. The previous owner left the guitar with INF1 and INF2 pickups which, quite frankly, suck.
I have a Dimarzio Tone Zone in a basswood guitar and I LOVE it in that application, but this is a mahogany guitar, and I don't know what would sound good in it.
I have evolutions in my s470dx and they sound alright in that guitar, but not really what I would pick for a heavy modern metal sound.

That is what I am looking for out of my SC420. High output with lots of harmonics. This guitar will be used for lots of chugga-chugga and pinch harmonics, but it must have great tone.
I have a JB in my schecter c1 elite and it sounds rather generic and sterile to me.

Please let me know what you've tried in mahogany bodied guitars like mine, what you liked and what you didn't, and help me find the right pickups.

PS, I also posted this in the ibanez guitars forum which was probably the wrong forum. Mods, feel free to delete one of these threads if need be.

Re: What pickups for sc420?

I have an S1625 Prestige guitar and i replace the original
Q1 and Q2 pickups with two DiMarzio. A FRED in the bridge
and a PAF Pro in the neck. This combo is used in JS models
and i like that kind of sound.

FRED pickup is very well balanced pickup with rich hamonics.
It has a very warm sound and well defined with distortions.
It's not perfect for metal tone, but i love its sound with high
gain amps, very smooth and full wall sound.
I think it work well with mahogany guitars, good fat balanced
and defined sound.

Get some D-Activators. You are practically talking about an active pickup tone, and the D-Activators are DiMarzios equivalents.

I like the SD SH11 Custom Custom. It has very low bass and strong mid.

Read the Tone Zone with 0.047uF thread here. I like the Air-dification and 0.022 by Lone Phantom.

I think most of us are staying away from the "what pickups for an XXXXXX" threads, as there are so many.

This is so subjective, I can only say what I like, don't mean anything whether you like it or not. Try to find friends to swarp pickup to try it. One try speak a 1000 words.
