What's in your Les Paul?

For all LP owners. I have been pickup experimenting lately and was just wondering what everyone else is using.

I've had a couple Les Pauls over the past few years... I've used the stock 496R/500T in a couple of them. I also had a Les Paul with the Dimarzio Super/Super II combination and push-pull volume knobs for coil splitting. That was personally my favorite pickup combination--it gave me the higher output I was looking for, but with much better clarity and attack. Also, the Supers sounded really good when split. I'm planning on getting another LP soon, and when I do, I imagine I'll set it up with the Super I/II set again.

My guitar tutor has a white Les Paul Custom with white EMG's in it.
Not only does it look cool as ice.....but it also screams like mad.

I cannot remember what combination off the top of my head though, i think it is as an 81 in the bridge, 85 in the neck.

It sounds awesome!

I've got a '77 Ibanez Les Paul copy, nice red wine finish. I've got a set of Pearly Gates in there and they are great. Nice and smooth

I could benefit from this topic too...I've got a '57 Les Paul Custom Historic Reissue, and I HATE the stock pickups.

I'm open to just about anything but EMGs...never been a fan. I've thought of trying out some Duncans, but I'm not at all familiar with them.

It'll be interesting to see what other people have tried out! I know that Gabe has kept his Customs stock, but...they're just not doing it for me.

I just took the EMGs out of my Custom and I will be doing some experimentation so I'll keep you posted. I got a new SG a while back I did some recording with it and I was so please to have a more organic, musical tone than the EMGs ar giving me so I decided to switch. The SG was not quite there, it just had a great round tone that I've been missing with the EMGs. I've used EMGs for over 15 years so I really don't have much experience with passives. That's why I'm curious as to anyone else's situations.

I had a Duncan Custom Bridge and Jazz neck in my Les Paul. Best sounding combo I had heard in a Paul. Customs are amazing in Mahogany bodied guitars, and the Jazz kicks butt too.

I prefer Duncans to Dimarzio's in Les Pauls and other neck-thru, set neck guitars. To me Dimarzio's were made for bolt on guitars with Floyds. IMO Duncans have always sounded better in neck-thrus and set neck guitars.
