Lightbulb Wiring Idea for SZ

Hi, new member with an idea for my SZ720.

Well it seems I can't imbed the picture I drew because I need ten posts so I'll try it this way:

Bridge position:

>G
._. .
._| .
._. .
._| .
B H

Middle position:

>G
._. .
. |_.
. ._.N
._| .
B H

Neck position:

>G
. ._.B & N Split
. |_.
. ._.N
. |_.BG
>H

'G'=Ground
'H'=Hot/Output
'B'=Bridge
'N'=Neck
'BG'=Bridge ground wire
'>'=Just for spacing

I'm new to this so I thought I'd ask the pros if this should work. I don't know if a diagonal wire from the bottom-right lug to the top-left lug is necessary or not to ground the bridge pickup when not being used in series (would it be otherwise shorted and is that good/bad?).

The aim is to have the neck position as single-coils in series, middle as parallel humbuckers and the bridge humbucker in the... you know what position. I'm hoping that the volume controls work so I still have a neck humbucker in the middle with the bridge rolled down.

I hope this all made sense. It would be easier with a drawing! Insight would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Re: Wiring Idea for SZ

I guess the 'one-size-fits-all' thread is too loose for me. Everything it suggests is to do with adding push-pull toggles for splitting and series mods, while I'm using the main switch. I'm learning and don't want to complicate things.

What I'd like to know is whether you can end a pups grounding wire on a switch that alternates away from it. Does it become grounded?

Anyone's help would be nice.

Post Re: Wiring Idea for SZ

Okay I wired it up and everything worked except that the 'in series' position is out of phase and there's alot of buzzing when I touch the bridge pickup (it's uncovered btw). I think I know what's wrong so I have another schematic. The only problem is that I lose the parallel humbuckers in the middle and I get the neck and bridge back with the 'split and in series' central. So:

1. Bridge
2. B x N split coils
3. Neck

I do like this arrangement but will miss the parallel pups I will try and draw this better than the last one.

. G .
.\. .CS
B H .N
| . .
>NG

G=ground CS=coil splits B=bridge H=hot/output N=neck and NG=neck ground (bottom center lug)
\=wire from upper middle leg to top left
|=wire from bottom left lug to the one above it

And these are the switch positions:

._. . Bridge
._. .
._. .
._. .

._. . Middle
. ._.
. ._.
._. .

. ._. Neck
. ._.
. ._.
. ._.

I really don't want to have to wire this thing again until I'm sure it works.
I thank you for your assistance
