    Hi ScottB

I wanted to ask you a question based on your contribution to a thread posted by "Shredmaster" on Nov. 30, 2005 (quite some time back). I hope you don't mind. I'm not a guitar player but my 3 year old and husband are quite into it :).

Anyways: I have a york 80 diamond furnace (upflow)
It works some times and doesn't at other times. Cuts out and won't turn on again unless heat is turned off and on on thermostat.
Brief history: We had a heating company come out and do a maintenance on the furnace and check humidifier. He specified the humidfier should be replaced, so we got it replaced by his company. A day or two later we started having trouble with our furnace cutting out on us.
the company came out twice and cleaned the flame sensor and coil saying they were dirty. They also specified the sensor was showing a low voltage reading. This didn't help.
They came out a third time and now say the circuit board and ignitor need to be replaced because they were getting a low voltage reading from the sensor and the board.
I'm really concerned why this all happened all of a sudden. In four years we haven't had any trouble with our furnace; not even a hint. Now after these guys came out we have trouble with our furnace and another huge price tag to get things fixed.

Based on the "nov. 30, 2005 thread by Shredmaster" do you think I should try replacing the rollout switch and ignitor first on my own before investing in some one replacing the circuit board? And also do you think a relative novice with some research and replace the circuit board on her own?

    Thanx.
