Ummm... like Caprile said, check out the RG3120 or RGT3120- sounds like just what you're looking for- mahog body with maple top, 2 humbuckers, no pickguard. Unless you want an alder 2-humbucker RG with no pickguard, then I'd try a USRG (off eBay).
And Ibanez isn't going to be stealing a lot of sales from Fender or Gibson. They tried: e.g. Artist, Talman, Ghostrider... when people want a Fender or Gibson, they get a Fender or Gibson.

It looks ok But I hate that scratchplate, What I was thinking is that Ibanez could re-issue the 550/560 with a two humbucker model. Give them alder bodies or mahogany on the 2 humbucker model ( lets say the RG-590). If they gave them more subtle finishes as another option. I think they'd start stealing sales of a lot of the 'conservative companies'.

hi there. i understand how you feel- i own an RG560 too, bought it in Nov. 1991. what i enjoy about this guitar is its hefty basswood body. it's tonally different from any off the shelf RG today, especially the RG5XX models.
if you wish to acquire an up-to-date S-S-H pickup configured RG, the Japanese market currently offers the RG760 pictured here

Ibanez RG 560-----my experience
Hi all I bought an RG 560 in may 91. I used it as my main stage guitar up until 95. I bought another RG560 in 93. For some reason the second one never 'Felt right' Even though it was the same guitar. Since then I've owned a a 62 reissue strat, Fender flame, Gibson SG std & De armond jetstar. I've whittled myself down to two guitars. The SG & the RG. I just think that out of all the guitars I've owned the RG has given me the best ownership experience. I don't understand why Ibanez discontinued it. The only thing I'd change is the 'overbright' basswood body. I'd make them in alder or Mahogany.....Its loads better made than the SG which has bridge studs made of monkey metal. I've probably played 100 gigs & hundreds of rehersals with it. If I were Ibanez I'd rethink the RG & make it into a more upmarket all round axe like a pensa suhr or a Tom Anderson..
