What does RG stand for?

A band at my school uses only Ibanez guitars that I've seen. *One uses an RG-something, pretty recent, good trem. *The other guy uses this old old old Ibanez with the headstock described in the previous post, with 2 hums, and a Les Paul style bridge. *Pretty neat looking if you like that kind of stuff. *

What does RG stand for?

A former bandmate of mine used to play an old surf green Roadstar with the goofy butterknife shaped headstock. I thought it looked like sh!t compared to my Kramer American Pacer, but it played like "buttah".

What does RG stand for?

Durn, now my contest idea will never happen But at least I'm now happy that it's not "Rock Guitar" that would be such a buzzkill.

What does RG stand for?

It actually stands for ...

Roadstar Guitar.....

as it is originally from the roadstar line...

the bass that was to have the same shape was to be known as Roadstar Bass or RB

there you go...

I hope it's not "Rock Guitar" because that would be incredibly boring.
Sadly, I believe the answer is incredibly boring. "Rock Guitar" is what I've always heard. Still, Gibson did a similar thing with the SG, so it's not just an Ibanez thing.

I think they should call the RG-series "The Guitar That Couldn't Slow Down"...

What does RG stand for?

I think Ibanez should have a contest to give the RG a better name and whoever wins gets an RGT3120 :donnie: Of course it wouldn't be an RG anymore...
