Re: RG prestige

I think the new 3550's with the maple look alright, but the orange one with silvery pickguard looks disgusting to me.

I own the galaxy white version. The white / brown colour combination looks a lot better than the black / brown combination. It is a great guitar and it looks good. That's why I bought it.

Re: RG prestige

Maple fretboard is gooood! try it first. I find they help your tone, and cut through really nicely.

Re: RG prestige

Yeah I've become attached the the new 1550s. Edge pro and brigh colours! Only problem for me is maple fretboard.

Also, keep in mind that the 2009 line up will be out soon. If you're not in a hurry, it might be worth waiting to see if something catches your eye, apparently bright colours and maple fretboards are the go this year.

If you absolutely HAVE to have the Edge Pro, it still comes on the RG1570.

I hope you find what you are after.

Rock on!

Shop around on ee-bay, a friend of mine sold his RG2550z 05 model in really good condition for only $900 AUD.

Re: RG prestige

Is ET in Aus? If so that's great and I was thinking the new 1550 ppn pbls look great and have an edge pro, but the con on them for me is maple fretboard, should I see about getting one when they're here?

Oh damn.

He's helping me out at the moment with a pickguard. After that is sorted I was going to find out if he would do the fretboard replacement for me. I guess a new neck would be in order, which means I'd need to save up a bit more and hopefully get it past my significant other...

Good choice too.

If you want a funky inlay later on, you could probably get ETguitars to replace the fretboard and put a tree-of-life inlay on there. It'll still probably end up cheaper than a brand new 7VWH here in Aus.

Re: RG prestige

Yeah well I was planning to do that anyway, I've been looking at more realistic shots of it and the reddish pickguard seems darker and more suited, as for the trem I don't think I'd need to change it anyway because everyone seems to dislike the ede 3 which I like and the edge zero just looks like a great idea, especially which the way it is kept in place.

Re: RG prestige

I think in any case that you should go figure by yourself in the nearest shop, if you can.
We read lots of interesting reviews on the net, but they're all subjectives.
Before I bought my RG2450, I already bought Evos and was about to order a special pickguard etc.. Finally, the day I received it I was so stunned by its beauty and direct playability (set up was almost perfect in regards to my tastes, and the pups sounded better than I thought) that there was no need for modding if not just for cosmetic purpose. (whites pups suits it just so well..)

And No, you won't swap the EZ for an EP without pain.
