Steve Morse - John Deere Letter

thanks!
Steve is a country/bluegrass guitarist primarily. He also has a degree from the University of Miami in classical guitar performance. Any of the Dregs or Dixie Dregs albums will bear this out - Rock is what he plays to 'pay the bills'

Dig this from '78 - The Dixie Dregs at The Montreaux Jazz Festival

thanks for the suggestions. John5 was kinda what I was talking about. Rockers that play around with the country style chickin pickin thing. Guthrie Govan is the most extreme. John5 is a great blend of heavy guitar rock with heavy use of the country sounds and techniques.

Any other suggestions?

John5 - Liberty, Salt Creek, 18969 Ventura Blvd, Sweet Georgia Brown, Sugar Foot Rag, Gods and Monsters, Behind the Nut love, Gein with Envy, Sin, Bella Kiss, Young Thing, Goodnight

From my chicken pickin iTunes list. That's from Vertigo, Songs for Sanity and The Devil Knows my name.

Johnny Hiland for sure.

Check out others like Brent Mason, Albert Lee, Vince Gill, even Brad Paisley's instrumental album, etc...

I'm not really into the country/bluegrass scene yet, but when my favorite guitarists do their take on it, I'm pretty captivated. Can you help me add to this short list of rock shredders doing the country/bluegrass thing? I'm sure Greg Koch should be on there, too, but I wouldn't know what song fits this theme.

Steve Morse - John Deere Letter
Guthrie Govan - Rhode Island Shred
Andy Timmons - Farmer Sez
Eric Johnson - Steve's Boogie

thanks!
