I'm sure ibanez must get rid of those low-end cheap models. We don't need them and the guys who buy it may just go to another brand. But i must say that i've bought mine Japanese one after i played an Indonesian one... But that's not a point, not everyone does like that. I knew that Ibanez great, some other just will buy some other brand for more bucks. I think Ibanez must keep everything at high-level and everything in Japan.

High-end only... guys, you have low-price high-end guitars. Keep them and trash all of that low-end guitars!

I think we can all agree one of the main focuses should be an original or lo pro edge in the low end rgs. AND GREEN!

I completely disagree.

I hope they will get rid of that damned mirror logo! That is one thing that bugs me every time I look at a newer Ibanez. It needs to go! Especially on the guitars with the black check (e.g. S570B, RG350M, ICT700). Another problem is, as many of you have said many times before, the Edge III. They should either improve it or trash it. They should work on some of that for 2011. I don't think I'm even going to buy a newer Ibanez anytime soon, I'd rather get a used 87-93 RG. They are usually around the same price and are Japanese made, with an Original Edge/Lo-Pro.

Re: 2010 Ibanez Compliments & Criticisms

I'm trying to scrape together some bread for the RG1451AG. Not my first choice for a color but it's okay. I'd like it lots better as an RG1471CA but I think I can be down with the pickguard. Yes, a fixed bridge RG is LONG overdue! I hope that they stick around. I was initially excited when I saw the RG1421 but lamented when I noticed there was no middle pickup (yes, it matters to me! LOL!)
I think that's the thing with me with Ibanez, or any guitars in general - there's always that ONE thing that puts you off on a guitar. I guess there's no pleasing everyone.
I'm curious though... since we've been shouting out for colors it seems Ibanez has responded - and then some. Are people really showing up for CA, LB, ROM, the 3550MDY? Or is black still the top seller?

Re: 2010 Ibanez Compliments & Criticisms

S series this year was a big disappointment IMO. Same colors they've had for a few years which are not many, inlay change that looks really weird and 24 frets all around. I understand that the market asks for 24 frets these days for whatever reason, but removing the 22 fret option from the entire series was a bit too much IMO.

Doesn't this seem to be the main deal about Ibanez over the last 25 years? They come out with something cool but nobody really KNOWS it's cool at the time and then we beg for reissues. Not everything has been their fault. Some of it is us. Perhaps in years to come the RG121 will become coveted and 'bay prices will soar and we'll all wonder why there's no reissue already.

This is not always the case. Ain't nobody want the Turbot.

The top on those 142Xs, is that what you'd call 'decorative' or does it have some thickness to it?

Re: 2010 Ibanez Compliments & Criticisms

The 770's were not slow sellers. There were just too m any of them. That's not the case with these at only a little over 100 available and much lower pricing.

I'll be straight up with you Rich. I am not in a position to purchase one of those guitars right now.

(However, I can only hope that IF they turn out to be slow sellers, like the recent RG770DX re-issue for example, maybe I'll get lucky and have another chance to pick one up further down the line. The downside of that is if it is a slow seller, that would of course further reduce the chance of Ibanez producing more cool guitars like that. Sigh...)

The press release says May.

If anybody is interested in prices let me know. I haven't decided to order or not with everything else I'm commited to, and I long ago realized just because some of you guys say oooooh and aaaaah, doesn't mean you're actually going to plunk down the green

Good point. I guess as I have gotten older I prefer "fancier" woods and finishes. In my 20s black would have been fine. Although, it is a serious pain in the ass to keep clean.
