JS's have lower-power pickups - the bridge is similar to a vintage PAF humbucker and the neck is slightly hotter, but they are light-years away from an Evolution-type strength pickup.

It's got a coil tapping switch doesn't it?
And a high pass filter as well.

Does anyone else think the JS-1000 sounds kind of thin?

When I'm playing on mine for a while, then I plug in my Wolfgang, it's like "whoa" the Peavey sounds so much better.

It's not an Ibanez sound thing. I have a J-Custom with Dimarzio pickups that sounds great.

Maybe people like the tone of the JS series and it's just me?
