I seem to recall you just getting that within the past few months---I had my eye on it too, but you were quicker. One of these days, I'll snag it from you somehow. The planets will align, and you'll to me.....Oh, the waiting is the hardest part.......

It's very different in a lot of ways. I like how there's a truss rod wheel between the end of the neck and the neck pickup for easy adjustments. Don't even need a wacky tool for it, just an allen key or a screwdriver. Feels comfortable playing up high and the neck being mahogany w/ ebony instead of maple w/ rosewood has a good feel to it and you can really feel the notes resonating through it.

The chambered body makes a vast difference in the sounds as well (for those not in the know about the JPX, there a unique chambering done in the alder body and then given a maple top. Looks like this -->

Easy to play, great sustain, great sounding.

Far as the 7, I had a JCustom 7 I got from Rich and....I just didn't like it. I think it may have been the neck was perhaps too thin for me on that one. The JPX7 has a fatter neck and is also easy to play. Luckily I got to try out someone's JP7 Dargie at the local GC when they were testing out amps and loved the feel and saw the JPX's had a few different things but mostly, ebony boards, so I took the plunge back into 7 strings. That one has piezo as well so 7 string acoustic sounds really cool through my clean amp setup.

I won't say it's better than some of my Ibanez but it's different and a welcome variation in my collection.

Happy NGD again... how do you like them JPX's since you've owned so many high end Ibanez guitars?

Here we are with another maddening multiple NGD for Jack. Yes, I sold about 15 of my guitars but I only bought 4 and THAT, gentlemen (and ladies, if there are any in this International House of Sausage fest of a guitar forum, that is ) is what is called restraint...hey....stop laughing...STOP IT!

OK, here we go. You saw the Hamer Cali Elite so here's a regular Californian in purple sparkle.

annnnnnd we have the Ernie Ball Music Man JPX sisters in 6 and 7 string flavors. They call the finish "barolo", I call it what it be. Purple F**kin' Sparkly!

The boards on all three are ebony, which is awesome. Had to switch out the pup on the Cali as the old one wasn't even F spaced. WTF, old owner? The JPX7 came in with the G, B and high E strings BLACK which probably means they had it in the case for quite a while and never even took it out to check it before shipping. Fresh set of Slinky 7's (He's not using D'Addario? SHOCKING!) remedied that dilemma. The JPX6 was being a finicky one while setting it up. Not sure if they had done a setup where I got it from but the action was sky high. I got it in the ballpark of where I want it so a little more adjustment will be needed. Overall, a good fr00t haul.
