I assembled a partsRG 520 from parts all over evil bay. This is also one of my all time favorite guitar. Currently assembling another one with the finish kinda intact. Waiting for the body to come in.

Re: NGD!!! RG520QS

I've got one too and it's my all time favorite guitar. I'm playing the frets right off of it.....seriously it's starting to need a fret a dress. The finish is kind of dark but is really nice in the right light but it ain't about the looks, it's all about the Edge trem and the mahogany baby!

Re: NGD!!! RG520QS

congrats. they are great guitars and can be found cheap. i currently have 3.
a brown one with a super distortion and a paf pro
a blue one with white emg 89s
and a refinish with the veneer stripped off with a tone zone and an evo ( i think)
i'm really loving the mahogany bodies.
if i got another, i'd put suhr aldrichs in. the bridge pickup sounds incredible in my mahogany hamer.

Re: NGD!!! RG520QS

Haha, yeah - it does look very opaque and stuff in that pic, but it was kinda sunset, and was definitely reflecting. I'll take some more pics later in better light, but it is definitely the Blue and almost greenish quilt on top, very quilty, but the lighting, like i said, just didn't work for me lol!

Thanks guys!

(PS - I slapped some new d'addarios on and the problem is not as apparent.

...and this one looks like blue sparkle! Either way--I think this one looks better than the stock QS blue and browns.

Re: NGD!!! RG520QS

This might seem odd....but that doesn't look like a QS to me. I mean, the top looks opaque. Is it a refinish? Either way--enjoy, those are nice guitars.

NGD!!! RG520QS

Just picked my new baby up today, Absolutely fantastic!!! My first RG and double locking trem, the OE is definitely a good place to start lol! A few kinks in the tuning at first though, the angle of the knives/posts seems normal, but low neutral is almost 15+ cents flat from pull-up return, cant find an answer really lol, I've been using Rich's site like a bible, too haha! Pickups sound good for stock, I expected that though, they are the V7/8, but the split tones are much better then I thought, I'm not really missing the middle single at all lol! Got a few pics, but not in the greatest light, but more (better) to come!

Everything is great, but if anyone can help my tuning problem, that would be awesome, I think I've got it worked out, But i'll get experimenting. I'll be changing the strings tomorrow, or as soon as I can get my hands on a full set of allen wrenches!
