Re: 1997 7 string RG---RG7520??

I believe all 7420's have 7620 stamped necks.
The neck is the same on the 7620 and the 7420. The body has differences between these models. Different trem route, different pickups cavities etc...

ya, i had a 7420 and it had 7620 stamped on the neck and 7420 stamped on the body, apparently ibanez ha an overproduction of 7620 necks and started putting the extras on some 7420's...i encourage everyone to check their 7420 neck stamps, you just may be pleasently suprised!!! (that neck is now on a custom gmc uv )

RG7-520 was misleading because it implied a mahogany body when that wasn't the case.

the neck. Why did they change to a bubinga neck.... I got the body composition thing.

I believe the bubinga stripe started sometime in 2000...

My '97 and my '98 were plain maple...

No, not every 7620 has a bubinga stripe - the early ones certainly didn't (mine doesn't). And yes, they are all basswood.

This is an old 7620 I had a new alder body made for, from the back:

This is the back of my currently disassembled 7620

7620's have a bubinga stripe... this is a one peice scarf joint, unless they changed neck styles? Im not sure, every 7xxx I've seen had some kind of sandwhich or stripes though.

So, change that 5 to 6! Other than the stamp, there is no difference at all between these and the rest of the 7620's.

So, it's an oddity certainly, and absolutely one of the earliest of the 7620 run but I would not think it would be worth any more money than any other 7620 because of the numbering.

it has a different neck though. 7620's are basswood right?

I also had an early 97 7620 in Royal blue a couple of years back that had the same stamp in the neck pocket.
No biggie , just kind of cool I guess.

I don't care if it's rare or not. My guitar's had so many mods that it ain't got any resale value whatsoever =) But I'd like to know the story about the number. Anyone?
