Re: Strat vs Les Paul.

I think the Les Paul is a far better instrument and is more of a well-made instrument. But I prefer to play a Stratocaster, and I prefer the clean tone of a single coil over that of a humbucker. So I guess I would rather buy the Strat, regardless of which one I think is better.

I know they are equally renowned, but when I play a Les Paul, it feels like a masterpiece of craftsmanship. When I play a strat, it doesn't have that same feel. For some reason, I have the impression (I know it's wrong) that anyone could have made it.

Both for me. They both have their own awesome tonalities.

My "mental illness" these days is genrally work, sucks.

Has to be a Gibson? sounds like you're pretty set on it, but i remember so was i at the time. Had my heart set on a les paul studio for a long time, but a visit to a local music store & some hands on testing changed my mind

I've never liked LPs, too heavy. I've played a couple Gibsons and a couple Tokais, just not my thing.

Re: Strat vs Les Paul.

I hate the spacing and necks on les pauls and like the feeling of strats. I played one of these in guitar center recently, and it was great. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/deta...FYQXHwodTIINWg

just need to put in tone zone and air norton.

Personally I hate both Gibson and Fender as companies so I'd never buy from them. I don't know if you have the option in Europe, but Tokai is a Japanese maker that does LP/Strat copies (which is why they aren't sold in the US, due to copyright issues). I'd recommend a Tokai or Fujigen if you REALLY wanted one. I've played a Tokai strat before, they are REALLY nice MIJ guitars for fairly cheap. Now that Fender Japan is gone, they are the next best thing.
