I'm not much of a LP fan, however that is a nice burst and as long as you are happy best of luck to you. Congrats on a great guitar, enjoy it as you are, congratulations on turning40 and well done for keeping up the faith for those 3 years siezing the moment and living your dream.

I have a Standard (non-chambered, might not be relieved either), a Standard Plus (chambered), and 2x Standard Traditional Pros (weight relieved). Each has it's own personality, but the chambered one has a very open sound. I really like it. I've had a lot of Paul's, and I think the only one I didn't like was my '00 Classic. Like all guitars, there will be duds, but all in all, I haven't found many LP's I didn't like.

If you ever have a chance, throw a Suhr Aldrich in the bridge...WOW!

i played both the LP traditional and the chambered LP standard, side by side and could hear the difference in the tones between the two. I love the pick ups.... they are amazing. sustain for days....

Nice axe man! Too bad for the weight relief. I absolutely hate that they do that. My last LP was an 01 and it was solid. Sure it was heavy, but the pain was worth the massive tone that thing made. The guitars sound weird now. Thought the WR ones are nicer than the chambered ones which sounds horrific :/.

For those who are curious, this is what they did to relieve weight.

PS love that Valve Spider. The Spider is a great amp for what it is, but when they decided to give it a tube pre amp section, man did they nail it . Congrats buddy! Rock on and happy bday

That's the thing with Les Pauls these days...

A family member works in a local music store and he loves LPs, and I said to him once that I've never been into them, and he said that I'd just never picked up one that 'spoke' to me.

He said that he picks up most of the ones in his store and he doesn't like them, something not quite right about them, and then sometimes there's just one that you don't want to put down.

This, in my opinion, is testimony to the poor quality control that Gibson seems to have fallen into... someone that loves a model, has access to a seemingly endless stream of them, and tells you that only 'some' of them that go through his hands are worth the wood.

Nice you found one you like. Congrats.

Happy New Guitar day to me. Treated myself to this for my BDAY!!!!!

So, I turn 40 this year. Not too sure how I feel about this. I always said that my talent level never justified a guitar of this stature. But i got a heck of a deal at a time that i had the money in my hand.

I never paid attention to these because they were always too expensive, I am cheap, I thought I could get a guitar with similar specs and be happy. And for the most part I was. But i picked this guitar up and was blown away by the sound, feel and QUALITY of the build.

I plugged it into a spider valve and i was hooked........ I saw this guitar at best buy (yes they have a music section) 3 years ago when they opened always on the top shelf so no one can muck it up. I pointed it out to my wife then and said it was gorgeous, but too expensive. Fast forward to today. it is mine! oh and i bought the amp too! happy bday to me!
