Re: Ibanez similar to Andy Timmons AT100

the RX series was made in Korea. the RT series was made in japan. either of those would work as well....

Re: Ibanez similar to Andy Timmons AT100

Excellent. I just compared those specs with my JEM and, while they are not identical, they are close enough . Thanks for all the great info!

Re: Ibanez similar to Andy Timmons AT100

The 442R has an ultra neck on it. The specs are:

42mm nut
56mm heel
19.5mm thick @ first fret
21.5mm @ 12th fret
430mm radius (17")

In 1993 Ibanez made the R334 and R335. Both of these had a viper neck which has the same specs as the ultra except that it has a 305mm radius (12"). Both also had rosewood fretboards.

The 442r looks perfect. Any idea what the neck radius is? Google search for specs is not providing anything helpful. PM me with price if you are serious about selling

Re: Ibanez similar to Andy Timmons AT100

Ibanez rt models have that more vintage look in a HSH and were made in Japan although they had rosewood fretboards, they were discontinued in the early 90s, I'm sure you could find them on the cheap and swap the pickups out

Re: Ibanez similar to Andy Timmons AT100

The RX series is probably the closest but I don't remember a Japan model offhand. Different pickup and guard/no guard configs but I know there were plenty of hum single single guarded ones made. Korea, Indo or China most likely in that order from older to newer models.

Swap the pickups for the Timmons ones and you should be fairly close for the most part. Fortunately the RX guitars can be had dirt cheap. Hit up some pawnshops or your local Craigslist. Chances are you can find a decent one to work from. Good luck.

Ibanez similar to Andy Timmons AT100

Looking for a Japanese model that is similar to AT100 without the insane $$$

Body: Alder
Neck: Maple
Fretboard: Maple (14"-16" radius) 22-24 frets
Pickup config: HSS or HSH or HS

Any models come to mind?
