I would but this purple FRED in mahogany is freakin unbelievable! By far, one of my most fav pickups I've had.

Well, for starters, they'll both be black pickups. I think it looks classier and purple pickups just take all the attention away from the transparent top on the guitar.
So I'm torn between a Steve special or FRED for the bridge. And I'm pretty sure I'm going with a Gravity Storm neck...

I wish but I have the other spacing (Gibson and Gibson copies like mine with narrower pole piece placement). What are you going to put in your J Custom?

That is an amazing guitar. I love the purple pickup in context with the finish! Other than Prince I couldn't imagine anywhere where a purple pickup would be useful but your guitar is the bomb. Congrats! Oddly, my main guitar with custom painted artwork, has some shades of purple and maybe I can get rid of the two black humbuckers and put in something like two purple DiMarzios of that particular shade of purple.

NGD: J-Custom KRG1502

Just picked this up in trade with another local forum member. These early J's are just incredible to play. The clear was in so-so shape so I took everything apart and started cleaning! (No dig to Jake8773 as the guitar was not in his possession for any lengthy amount of time) Just to clarify that.
First, new pickups have been ordered for it. Don't really care for the purple and the black neck pickups is really not black. It's a pink PAF pro painted black. And at some point in time, someone decided to paint the neck pocket (and maybe a different neck pickup at the time) metallic blue. The metallic blue paint was everywhere. on the back edge of the fretboard, on the bobbin ribbon (you can clearly see it in the pics) there is even some by the back strap button that I just noticed after taking pics. I managed to get most of it off. I've been over the body 5 times with some swirl remover and I'd say it's about halfway there. I decided to just string it up and play it while I wait for new pickups to arrive. Once they get here, I'll tear it all apart again and finish the corrections to the clear...What more can I say...It's a J-Custom so it's a great guitar!
