Re: Ibanez Strat

1. Acquire RG560
2. Select neck pickup
3. Play guitar

Re: Ibanez Strat

Cheers guys.... Yeah the premium AT is a bit pricey...... The RTs and RXs are hard to find...although there is a SA160 for sale here..... Hmmmm an RG350 with a pickguard change could work!..... I kinda like the idea of having it look like a Jem tho..... So maybe a NP body.... He's got a SSS routed body on a certain auction site.... Might look cool with a vine neck etc?

RT for sure, that's if you can even find one though!

Re: Ibanez Strat

The RT is an excellent guitar! If you plan on modding, the RX is a great base and I know many people that trick those out.

Also you might want to consider going with an alder body. It might come off sounding better with three single coils than basswood. IMO basswood is better for the beefier superstrat HSH / HSS sound.
good point..... The RT is Alder.

Re: Ibanez Strat

I think either the RT450 or 650 would be a good place to start. A quick pickguard and pickup change would be all that's necessary. The RT's go for significantly less than an AT as well.

Re: Ibanez Strat

Don't the AT models have a humbucker in the bridge though?

And Ibanez themselves built one for Vai. It was actually cool as hell.

Ibanez Strat

.... So lately I have been thinking i wouldnt mind building a guitar for recording..... I want to get that bluesy strat tone but with the Ibanez body style.... So was thinking of getting a JS or Jem body from Nate routed for 3 single coils.... Maybe loading it with texas specials or some such pickups..... Anyone here built a Ibby/Strat hybrid?
