Re: Best CHEAP NEW RG?

New? I found a 2010 RG Prestige at a pawn shop for $280. I shaved the neck to be the thinness of an original wizard.

Way better than paying more for a low end RG.

Absolutely agree. I have 2 prestiges and my 350exz... I dont play my 350 much because it's D tuned and I'm not practicing anything in D tuning outside of Live Wire (most of the stuff I play is Eb or E Standard right now) so it doesnt get the love it needs right now but I still love that guitar. I'm thinking of changing the Volume and tone knobs to black or white just to make it more "mine" and not so standard. It's why my 1550 has blue Gravity storms

The only think I dont like is the shoulders on the neck, the trem is actually not awful and pretty easy to setup (OMG EDGE III SUX WTF STEALTH U R THE RETARD).

I think that, at least here in the US, that's the demographic Ibanez is after with the 3xx/4xx.
I dont see many people over here playing Ibbys anyway and it doesnt seem like Hoshino is really pushing hard to take the market over here either. Everyone plays ESPs (i think it's because any famous rock/metal type Japanese player uses them) or the typical made in America Fender or Gibsons. ESP players outnubmer Ibanez players by a HUGE number over here.

Honestly, I want that 450M (that weird green color) but its not being sold over here and even if I did get it, i'd want Hoshino or something to put the ZPS back in :/

I agree that's about all they could remove, but the price change is so little that, imo, it doesnt seem worth it to even bother removing it. How much is 50 bucks going to change someones mind about a certain guitar?

WHY? well, ugh, CUZ THE BRIDGE ALONE ON THE 500series costs, well, MORE than the entire indonesian guitar. and so on and so forth. it's a simple matter of materials. anything on par with GOTOH MIJ hardware just ain't possible on budget new guitars.

PS and if the OP was interested in checking out modern economy-grade innovations, hoping that something cheaper but cooler has been invented in the past couple dozen years, well... SORRY. no worthwhile innovations on sub-$1k guitars whatsoever in the past 20 years. by worthwhile, I mean superior to older more expensive alternatives. cost cutting was probably quite successful, but with used stuff priced like a joke, who cares?
Because, quite simply, they're fun to play, highly comfortable and quite dependable. Like I said earlier. The EZ2 is a game changer, people just need to open their eyes and see what Ibanez did to kick the competitions back door down.

My only gripe with this year's 4XX line is the lack of ZPS. ZPS is such a game changer when it comes to adjusting floating trems. I have no idea why Hoshino removed em this year other than they want to compete with lower end fenders and such, even though in terms of overall savings over here, it's only about the equivalent of 50 USD... Which, in the long run, isnt that much considering what the ZPS can do for the guitar.

Honestly, I think this is one of the best times in Ibanez history. I don't think there's ever before been a time that ANY guitar manufacturer has produced such reliable, solidly built guitars in the sub $400 range. I think the Edge Zero II is a game changer. The glaring lack of complaints about it over the last two plus years helps to support my thoughts.

Of course snobbery exists everywhere. I'm even guilty of it myself on occasion. I just wish the people that claim Indo guitars are crap would save that opinion until AFTER they spend some good quality time with one. They're certainly not on par with most prestige guitars, but at a quarter the price they're DEFINITELY at least half as good if not more.

Re: Best CHEAP NEW RG?

I just bought a rg450m, its good for a 400 dollar guitar and comes with a decent trem. Pickup swap is a must. Everything else on its solid for a indo. I would love to own a prestige or jem but like everyone else like me whos money flow is tight from the house payment, car payment and kids college fund it aint happening right now. With that being said I think the s420,rg450 or one of the rg350s that has the edge zero 2 would be good guitars after some new pickups.

Keep kidding yourself. Yes it is possible for these guitars to be great.

The original Edge/Lo Pro, Edge Pro aren't exactly that expensive to make, certainly no more expensive that the newer Edge Zero I or II. The baseplates (other than the hardened steel knife edges), saddles, sustain block, etc are made out of the same cheap pot metal combos as any of the bad licensed bridges are made from. Difference was the knife edges and good quality locking studs made the the bridges excellent. Certainly not too expensive to make though.

I'm not saying it is as good, but certainly, to address the OP needs, it is well worth checking out. I've been using it more and more in lieu of my other guitars live.

To Adieu - I've got plenty of money, pal, to spend on guitars have could have anyone I wanted. How about sticking to the OP interests and stop spewing hate and ridiculous accusations?
My boyfriend calls them 'Internet tough guys'.
They'll say things on the Interweb that they'd never say to your face.
He had a guy spewing all this crap at him about how he was going to kick his butt and blah blah blah.
The guy lived in Ironville, not even 15 minutes from where we live, so Jeff TOLD THE GUY WHERE WE LIVE!!!! I screamed at him, that's crazy! But;
The guy never showed up and Jeff said he never saw him on the forum he met him on again.

OP: A used RG570 is the way to go.
But if it HAS to be new, I played an RGR320 today that played, sounded and felt awesome.
