Carvin doesn't role the fretboard at all. It is very squared off.

I know we have beat this to death here before but I really wish Ibanez (Fugigen) would offer a semi-custom option based on the RG550. An option on fretboards, colors, and pickup combinations. Seems like a simple compromise to allow you to get your dream RG. The staples like an edge, neck profile, and fret size could be standard.

I would love a DY RG with an ebony fretboard.

Most of us agree but we also know that the problem is where to stop short of a full custom shop. You can damn sure bet that the JC buying public will be screaming out loud if we were to be able to pick our parts on a simple 5xx and they could even opt for a pickup change on guitars at three times the price..............

They also do Zebrawood fingerboards now

My JB200 fingerboard finishing was just fine

It's crazy how easily Carvin does 3 different types of maple, 2 ebony, and the rosewood.

But, I still like the way that Ibanez prestige/ MIJ fretboards are finished better. Now if Ibanez would just offer stainless frets. But I digress.

I want more maple boards at least. Ibanez could do Ebony too, they're just lazy. Personally, as long as they get off this rosewood binge and start using ANY other wood for the fingerboards, I'd be happy.

The name "Genesis Collection" is only for the Japanese market. Other parts of Asia that got these guitars have a different name for them. The one that the shop is carrying is a Genesis Collection RG550RFR.

The RG655 is the same with an AANJ - plus the very awesome Tone Zone - True Velvet - Air Norton combo. If I had the coin and the need (okay, really... just the 'coin') I'd buy one.

The 550 SO need to come back just the way they were.. or with the aanj ... as long as theres a legit Edge them on there.. maple board as an options.. and those old school colors wouldn't hurt either..lol.

My favorite guitar of any Ibanez I've played.
Buy it if the opportunity presents itself.
I loved the V2 bridge. The V1 was okay. I was dumb and changed them out and when I put them back in they didn't sound like the same. Mine is currently loaded with an Evo set. Sounds and plays amazing!

Ok I just called my dealer to check on whether if they're carrying either of the AR or GC but they have no clue as to what I am talking about. And after some probing and googling I have come to the conclusion that they're carrying the RG550 RF and it's made in Japan. Can anyone tell me if there RG's are worth getting? They looked exactly like the GC's with V pickups and maple neck in road flare red.

Are these RG's worth getting?
