Yes, they can do low or high volumes. The sound they produce is clear. That is why I also like my own KRK Rokit 5 G3.

KRK Rokit 5 G3 is awesome. The sound they produce is really clear and crisp.
Affordable for its quality too.

Check out KRK Rokit 5's. Multiple input choices, onboard gain adjustment, active & cheap! I tour with two of these and their awesome for the price.

Yep, computer speakers will sound great with something like that.
I can't tolerate headphones for very long either.

I already have good headphones, but after about an hour with headphone I feel as if my brain is melting.

Will good computer speakers do the trick? What's the difference between a monitor and computer speakers?

If you are trying to stay quiet would you be better off spending money on some decent headphones? Otherwise some decent computer speakers would do the job for low volumes.

Zoom G3 with studio monitors

Hi all,
I'm thinking of getting a studio monitor to plug my Zoom G3 into for those late night hours when I can't use my amp.

I mainly play high gain shred stuff, can someone recommend a relatively cheap monitor that will sound descent? I will be using it a low volumes so it doesn't have to have high output. Also should I be looking at active or passive monitors?
