Keep the ibanez S1 in the middle. Split with the GS bridge, it gets amazing bluesy strat tones

My 1994 RG550, got the V7/V8 and my 1989 RG550 got the V1/V2, which I like too.

Sounds like someone's trash is another person's treasure. I do like the V7/V8 in my RG550.

One of my problems is that I have a Mesa Mark IV and a JVM, everything sounds good through the Mark IV.
The JVM is modded and really sounds like an angry JCM800 now and you can really hear tonal differences between guitars.
They sounded like ass through the JVM, especially the bridge.
When I got my 1550, I had already replaced the INF pups in my RG350EXZ with a full Evo set so when compared to the Evos, they sounded terrible, and that was through a Marshall MG15CF The only Ibanez made pups I like now are the Core tone and Super 58... SOOOOOOO versatile and VERY easy to get the tones I want out of em. The V7/V8 are just bleh. The only way to really make these pups sound good for free is to swap the magnets. Other than that, either buy new magnets for em or just get whole new pups.

This thing sounds pretty good as is.
I have an Evo for the neck and Gravity storm for the bridge but I'm in no rush to swap these out yet. Sounds especially good through my JVM
Wow someone who likes the V7/V8 I never liked them very much, changed them for a GS in the neck and bridge and kept them there for a long time, but since mine is getting switched over to SSS, those have got to go. I like the GS bridge, the neck, no matter how hard I try, I just don't gel with.

Re: NGD Ibanez 1550M

dropped off today with my tech for that pickup swap and a full set up.
It's already set up pretty well but I like for him to go over every nook and cranny when I get a new guitar.
Sounded pretty good with the stock pickups ,can't wait to hear it with "really good" pickups
