Nice. I've enjoyed the one scalloped board I've played, but haven't had the balls to do it to any of my main players yet. Instead I just go with jumbo frets, which is a little more reversible.

Full scallop. The normal straight wood fretboard hinders my playing a lot. I managed to get by with it for a while, but my thick stubby fingertips just rub on the wood and cause both friction and all the sweat builds up like a mountain.

No worries. It had just been a while, thought I'd check.

No I didn't, got any links? I've been a little dormant lately, been kind of busy.

And that massive slice of plastic will soon be leaving, it was extra $ for my tech to make it flush with the body and I decided to just do it myself. It'll end up being a "flo-esque" backplate. He already did the whole thing for $200, which is so cheap (and he always does a superb job)

The problem with the sustainer was actually the fault of the guy who had done it about 3 years ago on my old guitar. I had brought both guitars to my luthier and asked him to just swap the electronics from one to the other. He did exactly as I asked, and it turns out whatever mistake the other guy had made must have triggered it to pretty much stop working. At no extra cost to me, my tech trouble-shot the whole thing & fixed it. It was actually a good thing, now that it's properly wired it works so much better. The high E on the harmonic mode sustains on the entire fretboard now where as before it didn't Which reminds me-

Anybody in NJ- I would HIGHLY recommend "Be Sharp Guitars", it's in Red Bank. His prices are actually the lowest ($200 for a sustainer job, $120 for a full fretboard scallop, etc.).

Dude!! What an awesome find! You definitely win this years "steal of a deal" award.

I think the mods you've done are perfectly sensible and the gold hardware looks great on the PN.

I do have to say..........

OH MY!?!?!?

It's the controls for the sustainer and the intensity knob for the sustainer.

Alright, my phone crashes when I try to click on the picture tab to link the photo to the post, so if somebody could just post the little "[IMG]" thing I can just copy and paste the pictures in, that would be great.

NGD- Modded 570

Alright, this is a very late NGD- 3 months late to me matter of fact.

The story goes- I was at this guitar festival called the brookdale guitar festival here in New Jersey (I met the tone king guy from YouTube there, and I wish rich would set up a little vendor area there ). I had played there with my band, then gone out just looking around and checking some stuff out (I got about 4 serious offers for my black 1570 w/ evos/ slightly scalloped board/ vai &stevie van zant signatures etc, all of which I declined ). About this time I had a real need for a backup guitar, a real backup, no more 350s and such. So for the week leading up to the festival I had been looking for cheap MIJ rgs to take on the role of my second in command.

I didn't expect to find what I found, there was almost no ibanez there, but walking by a vendor checking out a Mesa boogie, I found an rg570. But it wasn't just any rg570- it was a perfect condition, hardly used, barely a scratch on it, 570. I literally gasped and ran over to it, shocked I had found what I had been looking for- and slowly looked at the price tag- a mere $325. I was overjoyed. The bridge was perfect, frets perfect, only one small scuff, neck was beautiful, etc. still had some plastic on the backplate.

I couldn't believe my luck! It about time something went my way

Anyway, I set it aside and didn't post much on it because I knew I would find a use for it. Low and behold, my good old POS modded 350 with fernandes sustainer finally gave up- ripped the term claw and studs right out of the body with the original edge bridge. I realized what I must do

So before you are before and after pictures of what it looked like and what it looks like now:

Specs- I swapped the original edge & hardware for a gold lo-pro and matching hardware, had the sustainer put in w/ dimarzio EVO 2 & evolution single coil. What it WILL be getting is a backstop (I might have a friend who can hook me up with one at a reasonable price) and an actual stacked humbucker to take the empty dummy space next to the sustainer driver

And if you saw my post the other day about my sustainer troubles, not to worry, it's been figured out and it literally works better than before. I can turn the harmonic mode on and go up to the 24 fret b string and pull up until the trem bottoms out.

Enjoy the pornography

(Still deciding wether or not to scallop the board and sand down the neck, since I prefer it that way...)

This ugly cover won't be here long, I'm going to have to make a new cover to fit the indents to make it flush with the body

Yes, I do feel bad about defiling this guitar, but it's what I needed. I love the sustainer + original edge gets in the way of my wrist + it looks pretty damn cool both ways so why not have it my way
