Re: Ibanez prestige quality control - RG652ahm - locking nut too small?

That's normal. I have more than one guitar with a locking nut that doesn't exactly match the level of the wood around.

I don't consider this a defect. The nut on my RG652ahm is exactly like yours: slightly less wide than the fretboard at the nut. Doesn't effect playability in any way. I wouldn't worry about it.

Why don't you measure the width of the nut width of the RG652? You can't rely on your feeling and sight alone. If it's the same as the RG2550 the solution is get a new nut that is 43mm wide.

Ibanez prestige quality control - RG652ahm - locking nut too small?

Pictures:[email protected]/

So I recently bought the wonderful RG652ahm which plays and sounds amazing,
ButÖ it seems that the nut doesnít quite cover the whole surface of the nut seat/slot. As you can see in pictures #3 and #2, the surface from the nut area and fretboard is exposed (mostly the binding). Especially the treble side.
*And the holes arenít off center either.

To make sure, I compared this nut to the one on my RG2550, and just as I suspected, its a tad bit shorter. See picture #5.
I measured it and itís not exactly 43mm - just a bit off - more like 42.7mm

I briefly switched the nuts on both guitars for further comparison ó and the nut from my RG2550 seemed to be a better fit for my RG652. The 652 nut on my 2550 was obviously not a perfect fit. See pictures 6,7,8, and 9.

- Any thoughts? -

Could it also be that the nut width on this particular RG652 is a bit wider than it should?
Because the width at the nut on my RG2550 does look and feel a bit narrower.

And although itís more of a cosmetic thing, it does bother me a bit, especially since I did spend $1500 on this.

- Would you guys consider this defective? -
