Reddit is cool for like the first month you're on there, by then you've seen everything and it's the usual social media bull$h!t. Gotta stop loggin on there one of these days...

I'm not really sure, but it's possible all the cool guys left after I stopped posting and visiting Jemsite? *sarcasm*

Reddit doesn’t help this site, neither does the fact that Vai just canned the JEM as his number one guitar model...

This is true. Just logged back in after a really long time away (I briefly visited in 2017, but it had probably been six or so years before that that I posted anything in earnest). I think it's that we all consume the internet in different ways now, many of us almost entirely by phone (on which I find forum browsing/posting cumbersome). Not to mention all of the social media platforms that now dominate traffic...Really sad, but Jemsite will always hold a special place in my heart, as it's where I really learned the most about guitars back when I started playing in the mid-2000s. With that said, I hope there are still some familiar faces around here and that everyone is doing well, especially in these precarious times.

I usually get hits from Google to very old threads. I guess people use other kind of communication methods and not forums as much as they used to...

Re: It's quiet here.

I think people are right about FB taking traffic away. It also seemed like there were a lot of posts about the same things over and over. I stopped posting on those threads because the topics have already been discussed in previous threads.

I have pretty much stopped playing Ibanez guitars too. I have been very underwhelmed with the models they have been producing and the price points they are at. For the price of a premium I could get a Kiesel that is 3x the guitar. I am actually going to sell all my other guitars because of how good my Kiesels are. I like being able to choose my specs too.

The jem7vsbl was my dream guitar. I loved the blue color and vine. I played one and It wasn't for me. Fast forward a few years, and I end up getting a Kiesel 7 string Delos in sparkle blue new, for cheaper than I could buy the vsbl used. I couldn't get a vine, but I did get to customize a few options and get a roasted maple neck/fretboard and it is a 7 string.

anyways, I still pop over here from time to time but It is pretty dead.

Me too.
I've a few made in Japan Ibanez.
But for some weird reason most of the other guitars I've had ended up being made in Japan too. Funny how it works out that way...

I sold a CIJ Fender tele 52 reissue and an Antoria SG with Bigsby. Currently playing a 70s Antoria Les Paul Tobacco burst.

Think antoria was the uk import name for Ibanez back then. Wiiquality seems very very varied.
The SG was rubbish but my Les Paul is an absolute keeper. Can get a crazy low action with no buzz and it has that real vintage mojo. Well it is 45 years old...

FB claimed a lot of people, but the groups seem more... disposable? if one starts languishing, someone starts another with a new pretty picture and it starts all over.

That said, I am also, personally, playing other guitars than Ibanez. I still love them and am wanting a new toy, but I took a path of buying 1 ea. for a while and that meant ditching 15 Ibanez guitars to get 1 LP, Strat, Parker, Etc. So my need for instruments and gear has evolved which partially changed my focal point as well.

The early 2000s this place was on fire with life and information and I felt in spite of a few grandstanders we had a good group.
I too am interested in which Ibanez's you sold, but more importantly, which ones did you keep and why....

I am new on the forum as well. I have found a lot of good information here though.

Re: It's quiet here.

I think it would be interesting to hear which Ibanez guitars you sold and which non-Ibanez guitars you bought and what you learned about "guitars" from that process. I'm sure there would be questions.
