Shims are absolutely necessary under every locking nut. |

Re: Pia’s locking nut shims, have 2 on mine... I personally believe that it is poor quality control, and it should not happen these are supposed to be professional luthiers making alot of money a cnc program will remedy things like this, me personally i would send it back . you better believe Steve Vai's guitars don't have that and he gets them free! |

Revelator | What's important to remember is those double shims are actually raising your open string height sometimes way too much, taking one out will still allow for good clearance over the 1st fret with an added advantage of a more reasonable lower action. |

Re: Pia’s locking nut shims, have 2 on mine... There's nothing wrong with shims, especially metal or maple shims. They are made to make the nut sit perfectly on the neck. Any slight imperfections in the cut might cause the strings to be too low and cause dead open notes, or too high, sharp notes on the first few frets. On the former, shims are used to compensate for that slight imperfection. Absolutely nothing wrong with them. |

Pia’s locking nut shims, have 2 on mine... Hi guys, got an Envy Green PIA some weeks ago but just recently noticed that there are 2 shims under the locking nut. To the other PIA owners here, do you have them as well? There are none in my Jem777 30th anniversary.. |
