Zeppel : i do have a JS and i LOVE it! But lately the 24th fret has been calling me... pretty annoying when you run out of frets when playing a Vai tune... also nowadays i can´t stand guitars worse than the Js, so i need a very good guitar... just not a jem

phienix The JS is as good as a JEM if not better

sniperfrommars1 I agree with nuno about the pickups I think they are extremely high quality pickups. The bobbins tend to look cheaper, and stuff, but they dont feed back horribly and are probably made on the same winding machine *in fact probably with the same programs as well*

the.godfather Exactly. He explained it better than I could. lol.

nuno if we talk about quality, a Japanese RG with good pickups on IS a JEM, no less.

oh, and if you happen to pick up a late '80s RG with IBZ/USA pickups on, you won't need to swap them, cause they're more than good pickups.

the.godfather Kind of, as Stu said earlier - there has been debates about this many times before, and I am not about to start again!

But I personally think yes. If you get an RG550 and stick some DiMarzios in it you have a quality axe for the money that could last you for a lifetime! And I would go for an RG550. I just prefer em to the others.

I say defenitely go for it. Just as good if not the same.

Zeppel So what you're saying is: if it's a japanese RG it's good, so as long as i can get one with lo-pro edge, i change the humbuckers and voilá! A top shelf guitar...

sniperfrommars1 See if you can find an rg1200? A 750 even they were pretty good quality. Basically all the japanese models with a pickguard.

disassociative1 Hmmmm im not gona get into the debate on all sides but if i was you i would get somethin like an RG550 and put new pups in it.

You get a solid japan made ibanez witha decent trem and you save enough to have a nice set of pups..........all good

As good as a JEM
