FWIW, Warmoth won't warranty one of their necks unless you apply a hard finish (infers that the neck will be susceptable to humidity, etc). On the other hand, plenty of other companies have done tung oil or similar.
Count the cost here...you will most likely be devaluing the guitar by doing this. Before you do that you might just try steel wool to take the sheen off and get more of a satin feel. You can either tape off each end to get a clean break from satin to gloss, or try to create a transition. If that doesn't do it for you, you can sand off the finish. Bro, you have huevos!

Sanding neck on RGT3120.
I would like to sand the neck of my RGT3120 and then apply some tung oil. Anyone ever done this? Advice on doing so? Does removing the finish hurt the structural integrity of the neck at all?
