What puzzles me is the difference compared to the AM73, as the local dealer is not intended to order the TM anyway unless I prepay it, so there is no way I can try before I buy.
I also noticed that Ibanez website implies that the TM71 will be substituted with the TXD71, the most obvious difference being the single volume/tone controls, but I do wonder whether there will be any further difference in quality.

Any Ibanez dealer should be able to order in the TM71 for you (or 81 if it's available in your area).
It looks to me like the only differences are the top (probably a veneer) and the inlay on the 81. But i like the look of the 71. If it's as good as the other Artcores i've seen, it'll be a great guitar for the money.

I tried an Artcore AM73 at a store and was going to buy it till I saw the Talman on the Ibanez printed catalog. It looks like less prone to feedback, lighter, more comfortable and more suitable for heavy rock, yet still maintaining the rich semi-acoustic character.
The problem is that I can find it only online, so are these asumptions correct? Also is the TM81 with sycamore any different that the TM71 (except the obvious cosmetic difference)?
