ashbass I've had several of both versions pass though my hands and always the bound neck feels slimmer and to be a faster more comfortable player. The wizard II neck unbound seem to have deeper shoulders than the bound versions. An exaggerated example is that the bound neck is more of a wide C shape and the unbound more of a U shape. The bound necks look slick too.

pawel According to the ibanez website the only difference is the bound board and different colour choices. So if you don't care much for bound fingerboards, just buy the cheaper one....

zulumika ok then. But that still dosen't answer my question ; there must be a difference between the regular and the DX.

RCB same thing. Get the regular S470.

I would look for a used S540, the go for less than 400-450 on ebay.

s470 or s470dx

s470 or s470dx - what to buy?

Was is the difference between rosewood neck and bound rosewood neck. Is it lighter? Gives more sustain? Is it worth the extra 60$ or so?

I'm considering buying an 's' but if you suggest something else like 'RG', please share your opinions. I'm looking to spend no more than 500$USD.
