May be it's just me but this strings are too "bassy" and not as bright as Elixir or Blue Steel.

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

Hello all

This is how this story ends =
instead of upgrading RG 570 I decided to buy this almost new RG2550EX from e bay 3776012596 already upgraded with Evolution in the bridge. The seller was honest about the guitar itís like a brand new no any flaws Ė plays amazing and sounds nice. The only thing I do not like itís a new strings GHS Boomers (these strings were on guitar) I will change it to Elixir or Blue steel.

Thanks all for the tips!

From what I've gathered ... most aren't real happy with the RGT line ... especially the pickups.

I would definitely demo one before buying one ... cus I'm seeing quite of few of them on eBay in mint condition which isn't a good sign

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

I have an RG570 and an RG770DX. Both are spot on. They require a little maintenance every time I change the strings, but that's it. Sounds like you just need to spend a few bucks upgrading the parts and have a trusted luthier set the guitar up for you, since it seems you're not familiar enough with it to do so yourself.

I put a DiMarzio Evolution in my 570 and nothing screams like that guitar does now. I plan on replacing the P/U in the 770 with an Evo as well. The sound is unbeatable, as is the feel if you ask me - and both guitars cost me around $1200 - you'll pay at least that much for a higher end RG, and a PRS Custom 22 will cost you double that.

Invest in the RG you have (unless you really don't like it, of course) and I believe you can't go wrong.

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

Hey Man,

I just put 2 Evolution pups in my RG 470. The neck wasn't set up right and the frets needed to be leveled properly. When I would play it, I would get a buzz or muted notes on the upper end of the neck. After the set-up, my RG plays as nice as any custom guitar out there ( and I like my action really low!), and the total cost for the set up was $100 bucks. Now add that to 2 Evolution pups( about $120), mine came with my RG, but I had to have them installed ($44).

So the total is $264 USD's. IMO, your RG is worth the investment, plus you'll have some extra cash to buy other things.

Good Luck!

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

I'm doing a similar thing with one of my RG570's

Changing the pickups to the Evo DP-158 ... HS-3 ... DP-159 configuration.

This will be my first ever pickup swap ... but seeing how I have the wiring diagram from Ibanez ... it shouldn't present to much of a problem.

The big mod will be the "vine" inlay and body modifications to make it look like a JEM model ... hehe ... leaving that part to LGM Guitars

I love the RG570's ... hehe ... just bought two more today for future JEM conversion projects ... lol (RG570 & a RG1570)

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

I would probably go with an Evolution or Tone Zone in the bridge, and a PAF Pro in the neck. Read up about them on the dimarzio website. www.dimarzio.com Remember when you order, order f spaced.

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

So what kind of pickup I need to aprouch such a sound (I understan what I need a proper processor/amp as well but I have somwhere to start)

I have attached 3 files

looking forward for riff and solo (riff2 would be nice to get an idea) - for your comments

riff/solo - Septic Flesh / riff2 My Dyinf Bride
files around 300-400k

P.S. sorry of my total ignorance but I used to play bass (Ibanez of course SR) due to the fact I'm the only one who stays in the band and wish to play-record (everyone else kind of "grew up" LOL ) I have to study guitar to record an album (I'm fluent in PC music Workstation).

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

YEAH now we're talking. You might wanna ask opinions on pickups because IMO they can make or break a guitar. Trust me...........get the buzz checked out. The neck could need adjusting which is done for nearly nothing. The frets may have to be leveled which is under 100$ or it could just need a good setup which isn't that much. You have a good guitar, it just needs some cleanup.

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

If you like the 570, and the neck is un reparable, then replace the neck and stick in some new pickups.

Or, if you like the 5xx series, buy a new one.

Or, if you are after something else, give us all a bit more of a hint!

I'd go for a used 5xx or 25xx myself.

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

my main objective is to get a better guitar which will not buzzzz (as mine does) and with better pickups
this objective can be achieved by:

a) buying a new guitar
b) fixing this one by myself (at least pickups I would be able to change)

so I'm asking for the advice what to do.

smthing like - keep the guitar just change the pickups
or - take a look at this this or this model of guitar.
