Re: mid single coils - worth upgrading?

I installed a red velvet in the middle of a Tonzone and Air Norton on my old RG. It sounded good, and it matched the look of the dimarzsio's better as well.

Re: mid single coils - worth upgrading?

i once tried a dimarzio fastrack one in the middle position of an evo setup... not as middle sounding strat as you might like but there was no volume discrepancy with the evos.... in a situation with a pickguard i could see it as being more versatile than what i had going on, it is a pretty tall pickup.

great for cleans if you ask me, it just wasn't very versatile because i couldn't get it the right height.

wgatever you get, get something that has a decent output. I use a Virtual2 Bridge model in my Jem and it matches really nicely to the Evo and PAF that are also in there.

Re: mid single coils - worth upgrading?

Yeah, i always liked position 2...

although i remember when i upgraded my 570 to a SS/AN combo, the volume dropped so much when using the stock S1 i kinda stopped using pos. 2, 3 and 4 altogether...

what sucks here is that pickups are expensive, and everyone seems to have a "you install it you better keep it" policy

meh, maybe ill just buy a single coil and give it a shot... i can always put it on auction later...

Do you use the split sounds much? Do you use the single on it's own much?

If so it is as worth while changing as the humbuckers.

Blue velvets are always a popular choice and suit the humbuckers you mention.

mid single coils - worth upgrading?

Hey guys, so the thing is i have two H-S-H guitars (a jap Jackson concept and a Korean Rx650) which are gettin dimarzio humbuckers and then i started thinking about the single coil... is it worth upping? does it make a huge difference when splittin say, the tonezone?

what would you guys recommend?

I have two TZs, a PAFPro, and i dunno what else i might be getting my hands on... but for now im gonna do TZ/PP in the RX...

thanx!
