Re: Ibanez SA220FM Uggh, why would you save for a JEM555? They are a complete and utter waste of money. You can get a brand new Prestige Ibanez guitar for the same price or even save some money and buy one of those used RG550s or 570s that everyone on Jemsite loves so much. |

Re: Ibanez SA220FM I have one of the first all black SA160 ones, no matter how much I have tried I haven't managed to find a better guitar. Pickups are something I would like to change though. I have been thinking of a hot rail, a SD SL1 and then a SD Custom Custom, both humbackers with split option. What keeps me from doing this is that I am afraid this might ruin the balance. Also the CC seems to not be available in a wider "trembucker" option. |

Re: Ibanez SA220FM Try this: http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Ibanez/ . There are reviews of SA220FM and SA260FM (with is the same as 220, only with HSS pickups). I've got SA260FMTR and it is amazing guitar for little money. I like it better than S series, they are not so thin and they have better sustain. If you set it up properly, the SAT30 stays in tune very well, even if you don't have locking tuners. Have a look on my baby: http://www.ibanezregister.com/Galler...al-sa260fm.htm |

Re: Ibanez SA220FM Just for reference, I own 30 guitars of various brands, but my other Ibz's are a S470fm and a RG 7620 which I just LOVE to DEATH!! I've also been playing for 10 years and in bands for 9 of those 10. Just to let you know I am not some idiot with his first guitar and just started playing with no idea how to give an informed opinion |

Re: Ibanez SA220FM I JUST bought one. The neck feels like a Wizard 2, but ROUNDER, no super-flat spot in center of the back of the neck. The SAT bridge is NOT LOCKING, so no wild trem work and expect to stay in tune without locking tuners. Also the back of the body is flat vs. the regular S series. Really comfortable feeling guitar. I am changing the Pups within the next week or so. Definately DiMarzio just dont know which ones just yet. I got the "Transparent Lavender" as Ibz website names it. I call it more of a grey-purple blend than Lavender, but it might just be the one I got. Overall, I'd say its worth what I payed and expect great things from it after I do a pup mod, install locking tuners, and block the trem altogether. |

mpugli | I kind of like the SA220FM. I really don't need another model due to having every tone I need covered, but I did play an s-series a little over a year ago (that actually had a lo-trs II trem on it) and thought it was a fun guitar (it also had a pretty good tone variety as well). My vote? go for it. They are not that costly of an investment. |
