Re: What would you buy if you had $500.00 to burn?

A quad of SED EL34s and 4 12AX7s for my JCM 900 SL-X

New preamp tubes for my Vox AC30 (the 5 year old RCA EL84s in that thing STILL sound much better than brand new JJ EL84s do so Im set there!)

All new tubes for my Marshall Studio 15 inc. a pair of 6V6 (probably GE, since they dont cost an arm and a leg for 6V6)

Get my Marshall Major recapped and get these tubes installed!

Get my Marshall JCM 900 SL-X rebiased and recapped if it needs it.

I've seen way too many cases of AIDS, Gonococcus and Chlamydia walk into the ER on a daily basis to ever consider such actions, besides - I find prostitution to be morally wrong.

I think I'd take it a step farther than Vaijem, and raffle off the gift cert on MULTIPLE forums, never divulging how many raffle tix I sold until I got as much money as I could squeeze out, and then pick a random winner, send it to him keep the $ I made from the raffle which would have a disclaimer on the tickets stating that the funds are not going to anyone BUT ME (in very small, well defined paragraphs). then I could buy whatever I want.

Devious? maybe.
You're just mad because you didn't think of it sooner.

No, I have not owned a GT unit before. I have owned about half a million Boss stompboxes. The GT-8 is replacing a DigiTech RP-12, which has got to be 10 years old. I never warmed up to the RP and was kind of put off by processed sounds vs a natural guitar through tube amp setup. Then about a year ago I bought a roland cube 30 as a practice amp and really dug the amp sims and efx. I was going to buy a GT-6 when I heard that the 8 was in the pipeline.

Go to a brothel and they'll make you a man with those 500 bucks.

The A/B capability for switching amp sims on each patch is a great tool.

I have to confess that I mainly bought the unit for all of the Boss effects. you know - the Phase, Flange, chorus et al. I have been more than satisfied with the effects as they are the same (and more) effects that I have heard and owned ever since firste picking up a guitar.

Given that I find myself tooling with the amp sims quite a bit and running the unit through the clean channel of my Boogie. Not sounding "better" or "worse", just different than the Boogie's modes.

GT-8 well worth the $$.
Have you owned other GT units before? I heard GT-6 sounds more digital and is actually step down from the GT-5 which I own. Can you compare them to the GT-8? I'm really interested in that unit.
