Production Totals Please...

Trouble is Ibanez made Jem necks available, but did they make bodies available too?

So production totals could be 50 necks 45 bodies 1000 complete guitars

I don't agree with the idea that an artist controls the numbers. For the PGM100 it was a limited run of X amount to test the water but will Ibanez ask the artist "So how many of these guitars do you think your name will shift?" * NO. *It's down to market research going by the popularity of the artist. The fact that Vai had several guitars released at the one time is actually quite astounding.

Someone will know the figures it will be in some spreadsheet in some archive in a warehouse gathering dust.

Maybe Vai does know. but I'm not sure the artist have complete control.
Can anyone say Jem555's, Js100's, the JS with the single coil) *PGM30's and for that matter PGM900 (The Talman one)

Those were deffinately Ibanez ideas.

New Forum? *I'LL TAKE IT!!!! *Anything is better than this thing....goddamn Yugo on my screen....now where's my Jemsite.com sponsored ticket to Japan?
Sorry, after reading 200 threads a day, where about 50 go this route... I get set off easily. *Especially after not getting even an hour worth of sleep in over 1 week!! Anyways... maybe Ibanez' new years resolution to have those little rolling counters on their machines that buid bodies (like on your old tape decks or your car's tripometer)
Actually only a small percent go that route. Kev just happens to be an outspoken cheerleader of that vocal minority. :lame:

Either way I think Ibanez woud be better served in 2001 to get their website up to date, add customer support online (along with small parts ordering). Production totals of 1990 model guitars doesn't help sales today... glen

I didn't bring it up. *I merely replied.

Given the shocking production number totals for the JS models I have decided to sell my 99 JS1000 for $3750. *Any takers? :lame:

Did I miss something? Where on this thread are we complaining about this forum??? I'm complaining about Ibanez not puting out totals but that's what I thought this section was for. "Comments to Ibanez". But, after reading what Kevan said, maybe we need a "Comments to Steve Vai" section!!
*See vai.com for "comments to steve".*I think Jay was voicing his annoyance with Kev's complaints about the forum sprawled over varoius threads last night. I get them via email too and I tend to agree with Jay there.

My final statement on this issue. Until someone asks Steve face-to-fact the question below, I'm not going to believe too much of what i read or hear...

"Steve, can Ibanez release production totals (or approximate totals) of JEM and Universe guitars without your approval"... glen

Ummm...Jay....no one has deviated from the topic. *I think you're confusing my bitching and moaning in the Jemfest topic with this thread. *Also- there's a big difference between bickering and a healthy discussion.

Sorry folks- it's up to Vai (in conjunction with Hoshino) to get those numbers available to the public. *Believe it or not.

Scary Fact: *Rich has a pocket protector.

Welcome to http://jemsiteforum.com/board/BSFEST!!! *Christ... everyone acts like production totals are the holy grain that keeps Ibanez up and running...

I am with Glen, I'd much rather hear this stuff about Ibanez not caring.... than try to believe the fact that Vai has control over every aspect of the JEM down to what color price tags Sam Ash uses on 7VWHs (white with purple trim).

Now, is everyone almost done griping about the forum? *You're supposed to be moderators, and this is the "Comments to Ibanez" thread... geez, I shouldn't have to be the one reminding you to stay on task.

Now, I have to read all this bickering back in forth in my e-mail. *Unlike everyone else who is complaining about the forum, I really don't have as much of a choice as to what *I do and do not read. *So until someone comes over to your computer and types in the forum link for you... and then holds your eyelids open so you have no choice but to look at the new forum... deal with it. *Or else save your whining for an appropriate thread.

Thank you

"Well, no one really cares about totals...and Steve hasn't said for us to make it known...put the papers in the box. *We'll sort it out later." That said by Kevan...

Are you serious??? No one cares about totals? You don't think the suits at Hoshino wanted to know the totals? Of couse they did. They need and want to know the production totals. They need it for their profit...

Why they don't want to publish it is beyond me. Maybe it's like Kevan said and after it was all counted and such they stuck the totals in the attic. Thinking no one was interested. But if that's the case then that's the reason for my post. Get them totals out of the attic and blow the dust off and let us know. But my PBK is staying put...

And it may not be a high priority but it would be nice. Look, I could care less how many 5K DNA's are available. Seems odd that only the limited edition totals are available, LNG, 10, 90, DNA. To ignore the regular production lines is weak, and upsets us older, non-LE, Jem owners...

Kev, I'm with you! We'll storm the factory with pocket protectors, filled with pens, calculators, and Universal Translators (so we can decipher those funny litte hyroglyphs they write in)!!

It's simply the fact that production totals weren't made public. *I do NOT believe it to be a ploy or a ruse to increase aftermarket value.
*I don't think it's a conspiracy theory either. I just think they already made their money selling them and have other things to worry about... like the 2001 models, etc. Not high on the priority list, nor it should be.

I'd rather Ibanez say "we don't know and we don't care" than to lay the BS about needing Steve's approval. Gimme a break... glen

IMO the VSK is undoubtedly the rarest Jem. You could definatelt add the PBK as one of the rarer beasts. We all know how often things show up for sale, and you can pretty much equate that to how many were sold, with exceptions of course, but overall you're right Scott.

Glen- this site is neither run by Vai nor Ibanez. *We're in the dark as much as they are...no?

I don't see it as anyone's "fault" or "excuse". *It's simply the fact that production totals weren't made public. *I do NOT believe it to be a ploy or a ruse to increase aftermarket value. *(As stated a million times before: a DSY is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.) *

I'd like to think that Ibanez said, "Well, no one really cares about totals...and Steve hasn't said for us to make it known...put the papers in the box. *We'll sort it out later.", and that box went away. *Even if Vai said today, "I need all the production totals on the VSK's.", it would take a seriously long time for the info to become available (reason: *see Rich's post). *I think Ibanez has gotten better in recent years, but...remember- it's all up to the artist.

My info comes from the same place Glen and Rich get their info from.

New Forum? *I'LL TAKE IT!!!! *Anything is better than this thing....goddamn Yugo on my screen....now where's my Jemsite.com sponsored ticket to Japan?

This would also provide key pieces of information I want to know, like what was the total # of JS bodies sent to the US in 90' - 93' for the graphics *models. But I don't expect it to happen anytime soon.
