Modern minimalist design. No quilt/flame tops. Raw wood is cool.

Does this guitar exist? Oh yeah, and for under $800 (can be used).
Carvin as already said is a good choice...

Also perhaps G&L? They made some models in the 80s that matched your specs, and the Legacy Deluxe looks like a good match and so is the Invader except it has a Floyd.

Third, a Jackson Soloist. When I bought my Jem, I had the option of a US SL1 soloist. Didn't think there was any competition there, but I was checking out a Peavey Classic 50 yesterday with another one that was a bit nicer. It still wasn't the Jem by any means, but it's certainly a nice guitar!

Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouette Special will fit that bill nicely...

Either an Ibanez Blazer(One of the more recent ones), or a Yamaha Pacifica. The Pacifica 600 series, and up are great. The 600 doesn't have the Dimarzios, but I thought that the stock pups were fantastic, on the one I had. The Blazer's stock pups seemed a little too weak, but they did sound good, and worked very nicely witht eh middle single coil.

Both have a Wilk, and Sperzels. I think they also both had graphite nuts, too, if I remember correctly.

I don't think you would go wrong, either way. Geez... I really wish I would have kept so many of the guitars I've sold...

They only made these for 2 years, so they are both semi-rare and semi-collectable. You might find one for under 800 though, but they aren't all over the place.
A Charvel Model series guitar might be also be right up your alley; they were Japanese made in the late 80's and are very good guitars. You might even find 2 for your 800 bucks.

A used Tom Anderson would be great. Also Ibanez had some Radius guitars with 2 fulcrum trems (442R, RV470) that are very reasonable used, then you could upgrade the pickups. The Mighty Mite Ash strat bodies are great, and very reasonable for painted ones, including sunbursts, metallics, and big metalflakes. But their necks aren't so great. An **** USA Fender neck, or a Warmoth married to a MM body with good components would make a great guitar.

Re: Calling all guitar geeks! Who makes a guitar like this?

Jackson used the Wilk trem on a SSH model and it had a Strat type headstock. My local store has one in a transparent Green, but I neverlooked too closely. i'll check it out next time and see if I can get you more info, but it seems to fit the bill.

Re: Calling all guitar geeks! Who makes a guitar like this?

Wouldn't the Andy Timmons and Luke models be well above the $800 price range?

Re: Calling all guitar geeks! Who makes a guitar like this?

Let me go through the brands you might or might not like.

Ibanez andy timmons, dont know if you like the headstock but otherwise its EXACTLY what you described in my opinion but i cant remember the radius.

Ernie Ball Luke 2 would suit your needs if you like emg pickups.

Usa Fat strat would fit your stuff and you could always just put on the wilkinson, this may be your best bet and you could always buy used and have that classic fender sound

The carvin bolt will give you good build quality and you can get it exactly how you want it from their custom shop so you may wish to go this route.
