Of course, but he wasn't expecting a custom shop USA Strat, he payed barely anything for the Squier and picked it up from a second hand shop because it played so well.

Ummm, why would my own cousin lie to me? We've both been playing for over 20 years, we know our stuff. It wasn't NEW, btw. Where did I say it was NEW? No need to be a Fender snob, and no need to jump to conclusions.

Very cool, Epicus! When I got mine, they only had rosewood. I would be really interested to see the Lake Placid Blue with a maple neck. Your right. There is something magical about those MIJ 80's strats. I hope that one day I can be lucky enough to track another one down. It would be really nice to have two MIJ Strats.

The EMG's sound incredible! In fact, I think EMG's sound much better in a Strat then they do in basswood bodies like and Ibanez or a Jackson. I had mine modified back in 1987, and I have never looked back or regretted the EMG's once. It's great, because, with the EMG's in a strat, you get the bombast and sustain that EMG's are known for, yet you don't lose that "strat tone"...it's like having your cake and eating it to.

Here's my old Highway 1 strat, fitted with a Dimarzio Fast Track 2 in Bridge and Chopper in Neck. I was really impressed with the guitar in general, especially when i changed the pickups, this is essential as the stock pups are very very weak. The neck played beautifull, i felt though that the lack of finish on the body detracted some of the tone away, it sounded abit on the thin side even with the dimarzio's ..

I absolutely love my strat! Seriously, how can you not love that strat sound. Mine is completely modded, including EMG's. Still, even with the EMG's, that strat tone comes through. In fact, I took my strat to my bands show tonight, and I immediately rememberd why I love these guitars so much. I'm going to be getting a new one here in a few months.

So, in keeping with the spirit of praising Strats, here is my 86 MIJ Strat:

And here is the one that I'm going to be pulling the trigger on within the next few months. I'm going to have the bridge routed for a humbucker, slap some black DiMarzio's in it, and accent with a set of black schaller tuners.

Your right on Ashton. There is a Signature Strat sound for sure, and the best part is you can get other sounds from a Strat too.

Ive played many ibanez including rg8570, 8670 and even rg9570(thru neck) and one sabre(cant remember name). But I always go back to fender cos they're the best man. Its the most versatile affordable guitar on the market today and the tones are just beautiful, to say the least. Let me give you an example. When you here a strat on a record or something, you know its a strat, right. When you play an ibanez it would take some listening to and guessing that it may be a strat or even a gibson, they've just got no signiture tone at all. I Know im probably gonna get heap loads of complaints about this, but every other guitar company minus the very few, have derived from either fender or gibson because they're timeless classics. Thats why so many players like Clapton, Buddy Guy, SRV and Eric Johnson play the guitar. I admit that ibanez necks are amazingly fast and smooth, but sos a maple fender fretboatd. I think ibanez are good guitars, but in my opinion SOME models, are only guitars of an era where hair was big and speed was the only think that counted, where as fender are always constantly producing timeless guitars. This is in my opinion, so please do not take offence. BUT I LOVE FENDER.
I agree with you, Fenders are good for everything, USA Deluxes are absolutely fantastic guitars! If I had money for one I would buy a HSS American Deluxe Stratocaster in transparent amber.
