Re: VSBL or BSB

I prefer the VSBL, and I'm not saying that just because I own one (an '02) and love it. I can't fault any real Jem (meaning MIJ) on sound or playability, they are all magnificent guitars. But (and this is just my opinion of course) visually I prefer the VSBL to the BSB and to all other Jems because to me it has a certain retro style and shall we say an 'understated elegance' to it that no other Jem has.
Some may disagree with this but as an example I personally find the VWH much too glitzy to actually be considered elegant. If Liberace had been a guitarist he would probably have loved it. But it's not me.
Regarding the look of other Jems, I find absolutely nothing wrong with swirly paint, floral patterns or crazy color pickups. Again, they just aren't me.
The VSBL on the other hand is subtle. The sparkle blue paint is not overdone (stage lights enhance it quite nicely) and is super-cool in a 50's space-age sort of way. The blue vine just adds to it's other-worldly vibe. It's like a Jem from a parallel universe. A strange beautiful guitar (sorry Joe).
Guess I'm one of the seven people out there who loved it from the start.

JJEMMER777 asked if i decided on the BSB or the VSBL .. well i bought niether at the time - im about to enquire with my contact wether the BSB is still available - i just love the way the finish wears, its well relic! I think the whole lot of y'alls is crazy
I think it's crazy to not play it. It's a guitar; putting it in a case or behind glass and never touching it completely defeats the purpose of it being built in the first place.

That said....I like the VSBL, but I've always had a soft spot for the BSB.

Re: VSBL or BSB

I love the VSBL. I own one. However something tells me that there are more VSBLs floating out there than the BSBs, so if you really want a BSB, you should be able to find an affordable VSBL in a few years. However, I'm not sure you'll be able to find an affordable BSB in a few years.

Re: VSBL or BSB

The BSB is a very special Jem. I don't think I would pass one up at a good price. I'm not gassing for one myself at the moment, but they really do demand to be played.

I know this is an old thread, but if I had a VWH a VSBL wouldn't be my next target. Likewise, if I had a VSBL I wouldn't be looking for a VWH. If I had one or the other of those two I'd be looking for an FP But the BSB is an awesome sounding and playing guitar. I'd love to get one someday.
