Re: 1988 RG760DG Ibanez turning green!!! Nice guitar..... but I gotta agree! It's not going to put the kids through college! Again.... not that this isn't a fine example of an 18 year old guitar. But ya gotta remember even junk is collectible. (I have quite the collection right here in my desk drawer) ![]() |

Re: 1988 RG760DG Ibanez turning green!!! The 760's are great guitars, absolutely! I'd seriously consider getting an old set of pickups for it though, if you really want it to be a possible investment. For the price they would cost you it seems a safe bet. It's not always easy to determine what will be collectible, but stock is almost always what you want. |

Re: 1988 RG760DG Ibanez turning green!!! Hey Guys, Thanks for all the great comments! Being my first new guitar ($899.99 in 8 ![]() Still I used the 760 as a studio/practice weapon. The super fast neck made for extreme soloing. Plus, it taught me how to tune on the fly! It wasn't until about a few years ago I heard Steve Vai mentioning a new tremolo system for Ibanez's. The Edge low profile. I am sure you guys know all about the Edge Tremolo's knife edges! Anyway, I trusted Steve's advice and bought one for the 760. Amazing! I can do all kinds of bends now and it goes back in tune. Not crazy stuff but a lot better then the orginal. I think they are using better metal knife edges. The pups were changed from the start because it had crap! It wasn't the IBZUSA DiMarzio's you see on older guitars, that was on the next years model. So I put in a DiMarzio Super Distortion, a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder middle, and a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail in the neck. Then I added "the switch"! Being a huge Maiden fan, I loved Dave Murray's guitar sound with Adrian Smith so I followed. I added the simple switch to turn on the neck pickup when I wanted too. Just like the Maiden boys. At the time there were no push pull, multipole, or parallel switches around. So I went with the body damage and added a switch. The pots, tuners, and jack are orginal because I can't get them off...really! They are not bad but the knobs show wear. I can't get them off without damaging the guitar. Ha! The 5 way is DiMarzio. The pups now are all DiMarzios, Super Distortion at bridge, DP 408 at middle, and DP 407 at neck. She sounds beautiful... The comment on that I would shred the guitar is false. The comment on giving my guitars to my children is the truth...have no children at the moment but have a wonderful niece. The 1988 Ibanez 760 made in Japan assembled in the USA will be worth something... Or maybe not. Thanks, junkdk |

Re: 1988 RG760DG Ibanez turning green!!! welcome to the site. i'd keep the finish and stray from the idea of doing anymore than pup swapping since it is in such good shape. just my 2 cents. |

Re: 1988 RG760DG Ibanez turning green!!! As long as it doesn't have alot of chips and dings, thats what will diminish the price. As for color, I dont think anybody you try to sell it to will remember precisely what they looked like 18 years ago when they came out. And everybody likes green guitars anyway! |

Re: 1988 RG760DG Ibanez turning green!!! The color will not show up equally on peoples monitor, depending on their settings. So you may not get an accurate answer. |
