Re: Just played an S470 - now im GASsing !!

Yeah, I use D'Addario 9's on all my guitars and love them since...geez it has been over twenty years I have trusted D'Addario XL 120's.

Although I think they have changed the name so here is the gauge .042 -.009.

Anyway, I should stop bragging about the S470 or Ibanez will raise it's price!

The Koreans have made some great guitars but get a bad rap. I have a 1992 Alvarez Regent model 5201 classical guitar that was made in Korea that will blow away most of the classical guitars out there at four times the cost.

So don't let the Made in Korea fool you; at around $500USD you get a $500USD guitar!

Of course as meticulous (anal) as I am, I must have perfect sound from my guitar. Please see above.

i just got a s470 2 weeks ago
: D i've been playing an sg then an rg and the s is like nothing i've played, it doesnt get any better for me, i love the s, soooo much hah and its so thin and light while still keeping a heavy sound
the zr doesnt get any better and i've tried edge3 and original s. it seriously does have perfect accuracy and you can still do dive bombs and anything wacky with it, ernie slinkys break easily though for me so i use d'addarios or ghs
i cant explain it, im still as happy with it since it showed up at my door

My 2005 Saber 470 is black and it is my everyday guitar. I love it! It's light and still has tone. I love the tremolo system! It stays in tune!

Changes I would make and have:

Make the neck a set in and mahoganny. Change the neck dimensions to a wizard style for speed. Or make the whole guitar out of black Korina in perfect balance.

Change the tremolo to a ball end system. Geez, when are guitar companies going to help us?

I have changed all my electronics. I wanted a Jem sound but did not want a jem as my work horse. So I wrote my friends at DiMarzio who told me exactly what to do.

I bought the EVO pickup system with the middle ISCV2 EVO and a multi-pole switch. After modifing the switch to fit I wired it all together just as DiMarzio said. I found out later that the ISCV2 was not enough to compete with the EVO's so I changed it to a FS-1.

The Guitar rocks! I can get any sound a Jem could sound and I paid around $700 for the whole project.

Now how many of you would buy a Jem and play it as your work horse? Yeah right! At the price, it is an investment for most of us.

I will try to add a picture or two. I my opinion the S470 is a steal and should be in every guitarists home.

Ive never played an S series guitar but I just played one back to back with a JS 100 and the S470 blew it into the weeds !

what are these guitars like to live with ? is the ZR trem system reliable ?
I would appreciate any feedback on these things ... I nearly bought it on the spot ! but I looked around and prefer the look of the natural finish quilted maple version.... mmmmmm GAS has struck...
