In that case I stand corrected about it even playing good...it's just gimmicky nonsense.

I like it!!! I just wish it had a floating trem but the inlay and the reverse headstock are cool!!!

Re: Your thoughts on the RGR521EX2

I think the inlays are beyond sweet. And personally, I love the reaper.

BUT... That doesn't mean the guitar itself is of any quality to speak of. It's basically the same as the RG3EX1 that I bought from GC, which I only bought as a backup, thinking I might even give it to a cousin of mine who is an aspiring guitarist.

Sweet inlays + crappy hardware + crappy wood + awful pickups = overpriced guitar. I wouldn't go so far as to call it "junk", but you can do a lot better for your money.

It would have been fine if they left that damn skull thing off of it.

Re: Your thoughts on the RGR521EX2

Speaking of 8's..... I heard that Marten Hagstrom of Meshuggah is going to have a 16 string version made for him...... tuning will be F#, B, E, A, D, G, B, E, E, B, G, D, A, E, B, F# plus the full "reaper" inlay will fit too! The body will be constructed from 16 ply Baltic birch ply as opposed to the standard CDX ply.

Ibanez was quoted as saying it would take about 6 mo. to complete. In the meantime Marten Hagstrom said it would give him time to learn where all the notes are on his 8 string first...... and to tune it. Plus the guitar can be played backwards too. Left handed or right handed!

Sounds like this guitar is on the way to collector status already..... (yeah right..... the trash collector) limited quantities of a piece of junk!

I do like the style of the vine inlay, however not crazy about the reaper they used.
