uhh..oh.

man its smokin! looove all the tones i can get with the different pups. theyre not all that noisy either. and - and this is a bit of a shock - and i know i can legally be shot for saying this here, but i think i like the bridge better than the Edge Pro on my RGT!

Re: should i buy a strat?

Congratulations on the new Strat!

My very first electric guitar was a bright red Stratocaster which I bought new back in 1985. Andy Summers was my biggest influence in buying the red Strat. I really loved the crisp, clean sound, particularly in the out-of-phase settings.

Later on, a friend of mine gave me an Ibanez RG as a gift for being in his wedding. I fell in love with it immediately. The strings on the RG were further apart and were easier to play [for me] than the strings on the Strat, the basswood body was lighter than the alder-bodied Strat, and the humbucking pickups had a great tone. And from that point forward, I leaned toward Ibanez guitars.

I've always liked the sound of the Strat, and I'll agree that everyone should have one at some point in their lives.

Incidentally, the whole idea of The Police getting back together again has me on the edge of my seat. I'd practically sell a kidney* in order to see them play together again.

*not mine.

Re: should i buy a strat?

so i bought the strat - just 2 minutes ago over the phone! went in a tried it out last night, went for the maple fretboard, cause all my other guitars are rosewood. i was surpised how much i liked the metallic red finish. thanks guys for your support. if my wife looks at me funny, i can just explain to her that its the law and refer her to these posts as proof.

cant wait to getter home and start looking for that perfect tone!

Re: should i buy a strat?

I had a bunch of stuff done at once, so I didn't put on the Earvana myself. I bought a USA Strat bridge and they don't retofit to the Mexiacan holes, so I had that installed, a Carvin AP-11 loaded pickguard installed and the Earvana nut all at once. It plays and sounds fantastic, though I've also blocked the trem now.

I "fixed" my Mexican Strat with a used late 80's ($100) Charvel Model 1 neck off the 'Bay. 35 bucks more for an Earvana nut, and I couldn't be happier. Outstanding upgrade, and cheap as heck for what you get. The nicest thing about Strats is that every single solitary piece of them is replaceable with aftermarket kit. EVERYONE needs a Strat!
