Re: ordered an rga121... :)

I think the RGA121 is between a DBK (whatever neck that is) and a regular Jem neck.

The Jem neck is quite significantly fatter than the RGA actually which suprises me.

I'm not sure what the DBK is, but the RGA121 and RGA321 have a 5-piece walnut/maple wizard neck

Nice! that's what I wanted to hear. I was actually thinking the miracleman set would probably be the best choice. I don't wanna go over the top with the warpigs because I have a nice boost pedal I could use if I ever wanted to do that, heh. I imagine they would sound great in the rga's, because the rga's have a simialr sound to les pauls, and the miracle man pickups are modeled after the EMG 81 & 85 set's tone (except a lot more dynamic and alive feeling than the EMG's, and with good string separation and a nice complex clear sound)... the maker of them, Tim, refers to them as "best at doing the Zakk thing" talking about zakk wylde... who uses the 81/85 set in LP's... and Tim plays LP's too, and his choice of pickups is the miracle man, so you can see how they'd be tailored to that kind of a tone. and the RGA's do a pretty damn good impression of a les paul, just with a slightly sharper attack, so I think I'm gonna go with the miracle man set... should be awesome!

and, yeah they are pretty expensive, but I figure it will be worth it. plus, if you really want to get your money's worth out of it, you can ask him to wind the pickups a particular way to get a certain kind of tone you're looking for if you want, and you can also get custom made pickup covers in any design you can think up, all for no extra charge... so, the level of personalization is really high, and that helps justify the price a bit

nope. not even close. they are wide and thin but have different specs/sizing. someone around here can point you in the right direction for actual specs.

it has been awhile since i had a DBK but i think the RGA121 is wider and just a mm ot two thicker but seeing how the DBK is sooo thin, the 121 is still considered a thin taper and not bulky at all.

I think they are. I know they are for sure for canada dealers, because I was going to order one from a canadian store at first, and they are all out of 'em or phasing them out. Not sure how much longer US dealers are gonna keep getting them. Personally, I hate the look of the newer crushed ruby and crushed ocean rga's... UGGGGLLLY.

I still think they should make more colors for the RGA321... I'd buy one if they had something other than blue... don't like blue guitars... hell, even if it was just flametop versions of the rga121 finisehs.... natural flamed top and violin flamed top would be niiiice.

Just out of curiosity, has anybody seen an RGA121 with the crushed ruby finish in person? The pictures I've seen online have been quite different from each other - from a deeper maroonish color to a brighter pinkish color.

i love mine. i have the natural. sweetness w/ 6 strings indeed once you drop in your choice of pups. i went the JB/Jazz route and didn't worry about F spacing.

Are the violin and natural rga121s being discontinued? Seems like most places are waiting for the Ruby Red and the others are either out or just about gone.

Re: ordered an rga121... :)

hey, guys. as for the price and place.. it was from a Sam Ash in some other state... (don't even remember which) but I knew someone that worked there via the harmony central forums and it was their last rga121, so he hooked me up with a good deal. and sure, I'll take some pics when I get it
