too much info... *shudders

i vaguely remember that high E string having the same problem on the one i had (SL-1, eerie dess) that was pre-Fender. it is hard to relax too much if you have a worry of the E string falling/pulling off the neck. let me/us know how you are getting along with it.
for now, with everything i'm going thru procurring the RG20ths, i have to be happy with my law suit Soloist ESP, the Mirage, almost the same guitar without the sweet flame paint job.

Re: New guitar day...

VERY nice guitar/collection!! I,d just wish Jackson would lower the volume knob to where they are on a RR model. That's why I don't have more of them because my hand always hit it...............

The finish on that Jackson brings a tear to my eye, I don't suppose you'd consider donating it?

Might as well post the pic here too, so everyone can see what we are talking about.

Re: New guitar day...

Yeah, but the strings were shifted to the treble side of the fretboard and the high E string would occsionally "fall off" the fret board. That was annoying and I didn't feel I should have to alter my playing technique to compensate for that.

Re: New guitar day...

thanks - i saw the pics. definitely not a deal breaker but maybe a small design flaw or overlooked aesthetic issue. still beyond sweet!

Re: New guitar day...

I PM'd you a pic with a couple of the "issues".

I would do it again... I must admit it was a pain.

But now I know what to look for and what questions to ask.

Re: New guitar day...

$1400!!!!?? holy USA Jackson BATMAN!!! to get a price like that on an SL1 makes me wish i didn't buy two the RG20ths. i need to stop gassing for other guitars and just set my sights on getting a new one with flames or snakeskin by years end after getting my Mesa Express 5:50 .
that is just sweet!
are the issues "small" or something that would detur you from buying another one or buying it all over again now knowing the issues?

Re: New guitar day...

Mine is a SL2H, prices are close though.

About $1400 for a solid color USA Select. Around $1800 for graphics like the ghost flame. Matt's music is a good place (banner above).

I paid alot more than that. Mine is a Custom Shop guitar special ordered by Fuller's Vintage guitars. That being said, even the USA selects are assembled by the Custom Shop.

Mine is near perfect. I've seen "issues" with some the USA select, then again, I'm pretty picky.

$1400 bucks for a guitar with MOP inlays, Real Floyd, Real SD pups, Ebony fretboard, CTS switches and pots, quarter sawn maple neck through, etc. is pretty fantastic IMHO.

Oh, I prefer non painted necks....but I'm not really having any issues with the painted neck on this guitar.

..And I know why you say that, once I played one of these....I had to have one.

Hope that helps.

you must be still floating on a cloud, i know i would be. i would choose the ghost flames first and then the snake skin finish. they discontinued another awesonme finish i really liked, black holoflake.

did you have to custom order that model or is it just a standard custom offered by Jackson that you special ordered? if you don't mind telling me or PMing me what those cost and who you feel is a good broker for those, i'd sure be appreciative.
i LOVE my 7VWH (Elvis) but would swap it in a heartbeat for a nice ghost flamed SL-1. i know that is sacreligious on jemsite to say but for those that have played them, they know why i say that (except for the people that don't like glossy painted necks).

Re: New guitar day...

thanks for the great review and info. if i decide to get one i will try to hit some larger stores so maybe i might have a chance at getting my mits on one before i buy. i might have to go the online route, again - if i decide to buy one.
i have an S Series project in the works so another S isn't something i need but i have been really digging the look of that one lately and missing having a playable S on hand.

that Jackson is the SHI*!!! i would have a hard time dropping $2000+ on almost anything except one of the SL1's with Flames, but hell, i would have a hard time dropping that kind of dough on a guitar no matter what it is. i need an endorsement for guitars, strings and Jager.
